The Electrical Engineer will lead the engineering team with advanced degrees of direct project responsibilities while maintaining an in-depth knowledgebase of the telecommunications site development process. Project work will focus on new site development of macro and small cell sites, the modification of existing telecommunications facilities, fiber optic networks, and other project types as required. Responsibilities will focus on the accurate and efficient production of engineering deliverables and maintaining effective job flow while managing multiple projects. Project Engineer assists the Engineering Market Manager with the delegation of assignments, resource allocation, personnel management, and the oversight of quality and timeliness of deliverables while utilizing an understanding of client-specific telecommunications equipment and their usage. Advanced problem solving and analytics will be employed and shared with the team as well as mentorship and training.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, manage and perform quality analysis and quality control for team of engineers in the production of electrical engineering design drawings, construction drawings, cost estimates and other contract documents for various telecommunication sites.
  • Oversee development of construction plans for telecommunications client equipment upgrades and modifications
  • Assist Engineering Market Manager with final review of production deliverables and professionally endorse (sign and/or seal) reports, plans, and other contract documents as needed
  • Supervise, manage, engineer and design:
    • Ability to design complex one-line diagrams, perform fault current calculations, develop Panel schedules, design backup power systems, perform load studies and load calculations
    • Design AC power distribution in the public ROW and through buildings
    • Design grounding systems for telecommunications sites, ability to calculate resistance potential for site specific soils, ability to design lightning protection systems.
    • New and upgraded telecommunications antenna locations from existing infrastructure to proposed destination in public right-of-way and private property
    • New conduit routes for fiber optic utility companies from existing infrastructure to proposed destination in public right-of-way and private property
    • Existing fiber optic networks and facilities within the public for permanent or temporary relocation in the public right-of-way
  • Understand and perform electrical calculations conforming to building code requirements for electrical design and analysis
  • Interact with internal multi-disciplinary team members to expedite project completion and approvals
  • Create effective job flow by tracking assigned tasks and prioritizing completion of assignments accordingly
  • Routinely produce accurate drawings promptly and efficiently
  • Learn new telecommunications equipment and client-specific equipment and their usage
  • Evaluate designs for constructability
  • Perform, review and approve electrical and grounding construction drawings, and other construction contract documents with a high level of accuracy and strict attention to detail
  • Collaborate with Engineering Market Manager and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient, effective, and innovative approach to meet the client's needs
  • Provide guidance and training to junior engineering team members
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals in Saba Cloud for the engineering staff, including goal setting, career pathing and ongoing feedback
  • Collaborate with Engineering Market Manager to identify and correct project performance issues
  • Assist the Engineering Market Manager with the daily operations of the engineering team

Qualification:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required. Advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years' engineering experience required
  • EIT required, PE preferred
  • Telecom electrical engineering experience preferred Intimate knowledge in electrical codes: NEC, NESC, R56
  • Experience in Commercial and Residential Power Distribution
  • Experience performing load calculations and interpreting power/load studies
  • Backup power experience - Experience designing backup power systems
  • Ability to create complex one-line diagrams, fault current calculations, and Panel schedules
  • General understanding of aerial and underground AC power distribution fundamentals
  • Extensive Grounding experience and ability to calculate resistance potential for site specific soils
  • Ability to interpret electrical requirements from equipment specification sheets
  • Familiarity with DC power plants & battery banks
  • Microstation experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Extensive technical experience and knowledge in electrical engineering commercial and residential power design principles as well as applicable design guides and standards required
  • Competency in reading, understanding and interpreting complex building, tower, structural and construction drawings
  • Ability to review and analyze site documentation and gather necessary information to complete the assignment
  • Knowledge in construction practice and principles
  • Proficiency in building codes and standards used in the telecommunications industry and their application: NEC, NESC, R56
  • Ability to research and draw upon engineering knowledge to yield feasible and creative solutions
  • Critical thinking and problem solving for complex designs
  • Ability to work autonomously without supervision required
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
