Job Summary

Compounds mixes to be used for packaging or finished products measures ingredients and documents chemical usage.

 Chemical First Shift - Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 5pm with overtime on Fridays 6:30pm - 3pm

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Model the Spectrum Brands Values & Behaviors: Ownership, Teamwork and Agility, to achieve service excellence, meet and exceed organizational objectives and support fiscal responsibility.
  • Work with associates in team effort to further company goals concerning productivity, safety, quality and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Obtain batch sheets from Team Coordinator/Supervisor based on a published schedule.  Collect raw materials in required amounts and have verified by QA or secondary compounder.  Add raw materials to mix and blend per documented procedure.
  • Notify QA that batch is completed and supply a sample for testing and approval as well as any discrepancies in quantity.
  • Identify mixing and holding tanks with product name and batch number.  Set up tanks or hoppers in designated production areas or work stations.
  • Record chemical requisitions on mix control sheet.
  • Learn premix procedures and situations when it can be properly used.
  • Maintain and verify cleanliness and organization of premix room, all mixing areas and equipment.  Maintain cleaning logs.
  • Order and stock chemicals and supplies as needed for mixing by communicating with Warehouse and Team Coordinator/Supervisor.
  • Follow prescribed safety policies as established by the company.
  • Work with associates in team effort to further company goals concerning productivity, safety, quality and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in inventory counts annually or as required by business needs.
  • Communicate equipment problems to Team Coordinator/Supervisor, providing information such as nature of the problem, equipment involved, frequency, etc.
  • Inform Team Coordinator/Supervisor immediately of any mixing problems (irregular texture, color, smell, etc.). 



Education and Experience Profile

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Intermediate arithmetic skills to calculate percentages, units of measure, conversions from one unit to another).



Required Skills

  • Must be skilled in forklift operation.
  • Intermediate arithmetic skills to calculate percentages, units of measure, conversions from one unit to another).
  • Must have the ability to operate digital, balance and dial scales.
  • Must have the ability to operate and adjust mixers and mixing timers.



Work Environment

Must be comfortable working from elevated levels.  Repetitive movements required.  Must be able to lift 50 pounds with or without assistance. Must be able to work in confined spaces and at elevated levels.  Must be available to work across multiple shifts.  Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.   Must wear all prescribed PPE including, but not limited to:  hearing protection, safety glasses, respirator and steel toed shoes.

Otherwise, working conditions are normal for a manufacturing­­­­ environment.
