Black & Veatch’s Global Advisory organization provides strategic and digital transformation consulting services to the power, energy, gas, and water sectors. We have an immediate need for a professional with functional / technical industry expertise and experience in Gas and Electric Utility GIS & Mobility solutions. As the Principal, Utility GIS & Mobility position you will contribute to the completion of multiple engagement phases, function in a lead role and manage the client engagement while documenting and improving business processes focused on GIS solutions and the ecosystem of interfacing systems.

In many of our roles, you will work with a team of consultants, providing industry-leading management consulting services to support technology, operational, financial, and regulatory challenges that require integrated, end-to-end global capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Consulting Capability:

• Knowledge of the ESRI’s technology stack including but not limited to ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Enterprise and other GIS based solutions

• Knowledge of ESRI’s Geometric and Utility Network Models

• Knowledge of Engineering Design tools such as ArcFM, PlsCAD, MicroStation

• Knowledge of Field/Mobile Work software solutions that increase worker productivity

• Transfer capabilities, and skills to improve others’ knowledge and skill levels

• Enhances established working relationships with team members and management from within the client’s organization

• Contributes to quality review on own engagement

• Outlines specific performance measures, targets, and goals to articulate the business case for realized efficiencies or added value

• Collaborates with client to gain alignment of future strategies and direction

Industry Knowledge Capability:

• Experience working with Electric and Gas Utilities on GIS programs

• Working knowledge of Work and Asset Management

• Understands and builds Solution Architectures for Electric and Gas Utilities

Project Management Capability (where applicable):

• Leads and manages large scale multi-year engagements

• Manages client expectations within defined scope of engagement

• Recommends appropriate resources based on the phases of an assignment

• Delegates work to assigned team members

• Manages engagement issues and escalates where appropriate

• Develops, presents, and defends conclusions, recommendations, and implementation plans

• Identifies technical issues impacting an engagement and proposes solutions

• Analyzes and applies best practices knowledge of the industry

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree

• Business development capability.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience

• Has managed significant engagements

• 10+ years in a business/consulting environment

Certifications

Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred.
