Safety/ EHS Specialist (Williamsburg, KY)
Our client in Williamsburg, KY, is seeking a Safety/ EHS Specialist for its air spring manufacturing facility. This position will report directly to the Plant EHS Manager. Scope of this role is an apprentice to the EHS Plant Manager- someone to watch and learn, be groomed into a full-time Lead Safety role.The candidate hired into the role will learn all of the tracking and reporting activities for client’s EHS programs, including training, worker-compensation and job safety analyses.
Position is a Contract to hire role.
Environmental - Support the Environmental activities as appropriate to include but not limited to surveillance inspections, spill control, permit sampling/recordkeeping/reporting, and permit compliance.
Health - Support the Health functions for the facility (to include hazard communication, industrial hygiene sampling, hearing conservation, SDS management, and respiratory protection).
Safety – Review, recommend, and revise plant written procedures, standards, and reporting requirements regarding Line Driven Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Hazard Recognition, and ISO14001/Environmental Management System (EMS).
Training – Reviews, recommends, develops, and conducts training programs for Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Security, and Environmental as required and ensures training records are maintained based on corporate records retention policy.
Continuous Improvement – Experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean manufacturing and waste elimination activities. Able to understand KPI’s and support EHS Manager to drive all losses (focusing on Safety) to Zero.
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Engineering, or related field. Regionally- based candidate that is finishing or recently finished an Occupational Health/Safety program at one of the regional KY or TN colleges a huge plus.
1-2 years EHS experience in manufacturing preferred.
Must have strong technical skills as well as sound communication skills, including the ability to work independently and with teams as needed.
Demonstrated capability of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is preferred.
Experience developing Safety training materials, also safety plans and calendars.
Prior experience in automotive manufacturing (including Tier I or Tier II Supplier) a huge plus.
