Senior/Lead Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

If you are an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will focus primarily on manufacturing CNC technologies and processes in a high-volume machining environment. You will be responsible for designing, planning and delivering manufacturing system solutions that optimize cost, capital investment, and performance of highly automated machining lines. You will also work collaboratively with product planning, engineering, manufacturing engineering and operations to help design and develop products that are designed for both performance and manufacturability. You will research and monitor advanced manufacturing technology trends and appropriately integrate proven technology solutions into our global manufacturing facilities.


  • Lead assigned strategic project team activities; team may be manufacturing engineering functions only or cross-functionally to include members from product planning, procurement, quality, operations and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with new product development groups to address industry trends, leveraging design for manufacturing expertise to ensure all aspects of safety, quality, performance, economic value and standards are achieved for scroll compressors and the components manufactured within.
  • Drive continuous improvements by utilizing lean principles that are aligned with manufacturing strategies.
  • Determine root cause of failures using statistical methods (e.g., Design of Experiment, Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Analysis, A3).
  • Coordinate design, justification, procurement and implementation of tooling and support equipment, executing to established budgets and timelines.
  • Create and optimize workpiece CNC programs to manufacture products to drawing dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ensure all production related technologies, equipment and processes meet all safety requirements in accordance with applicable industry standards.
  • Serve as technical expert support for assigned manufacturing responsibilities.

  • Four (4) year degree plus five (5) years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor of Science - Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or related degree. 
  • Advanced CNC Programming for lathes and machining centers.
  • Appropriate knowledge, demonstrated competence, and experience in manufacturing machining technologies and related industries.
  • Good organizational, project management, and presentation skills to interact with all levels within the organization and with suppliers and customers.
  • Solid understanding of advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and application of LEAN tools.
  • Experience with a 3D CAD software (examples: NX, Creo, CATIA, SolidWorks)
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.


  • Minimum seven (7) years' experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Experience with NX 3D modeling. 
  • Experience working with Teamcenter PLM software.
  • Proficient in performing manufacturing PFMEA.

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. About our Location

The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for the air conditioning and cold chain businesses. Through our 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our air conditioning related products help bring comfort and convenience in commercial, industrial and residential spaces. The cold chain business helps ensure that food safely and efficiently travels from farm to fork. Approximately 1600 businesses and functions represented under this one roof, there are many opportunities for advancement within the Sidney location.
