Job Requirements:
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Industrial cleaning experience preferred
Ability to travel to off-site locations as needed
Ability to work split shifts, early mornings and late evenings
Required Skills
Ability to work evenings and weekends required
Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department
Ability to problem-solve and handle stress in a positive manner
Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital departments
Essential Functions
Possess knowledge of JCAHO standards applicable to Housekeeping
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding any patient information
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and pleasant hospital environment
Must have knowledge of, and be capable of handling regulated medical waste
Isolation room cleaning
Maintain a clean cart
Keep records of discharge cleaning
Assist on all hospital floors and off-site locations as needed
Functional Demands
Work requires physical ability as walking, standing, sitting, moving intermittently throughout the day
Occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds
Must be able to climb a ladder
Stair climbing required
Unpleasant and mal odors are part of the daily scenario
Sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming and dusting
Risk of exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials
Reading and writing required regularly to follow job description

Maintains hospital standards to maintain a positive patient care experience
Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice
Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities
Maintains compliance with organization’s policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards
Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information
Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization
Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and TJC standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies
