Job Description

This position is posted at multiple levels.

Provides engineering services for the design and construction of high voltage line project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. Provides technical project management for all phases of a high voltage line project including scheduling, design, cost estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. Conducts engineering studies and investigations and prepares oral and written reports. Provides high voltage engineering assistance to other departments. Keeps informed of industry issues and technical trends that can benefit MidAmerican Energy Company's business. Provides technical input to assist in project planning. 

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. (45%)

Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. (20%)

Conduct engineering studies and investigations and prepare oral and written reports. (20%)

Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (10%)

Keep informed of industry issues and technical trends that can benefit MidAmerican Energy Company's business. (5%)

Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.

Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.

The engineer II position requires one to three years of engineering experience.

The senior engineer position requires five years of industry experience as a practicing engineer, and must be a licensed PE.  If no PE license, then must have eight or more years as a practicing engineer.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
