A day in the life of our Solution Architect: (roles and responsibility)

As a member of the Data & Analytics team, the Solution Architect evaluates business objectives, design technical solutions, and contributes to the delivery for a variety of information management needs. These include use cases for business intelligence, master data, data warehousing, and big data.

The Solution Architect is part of an Agile delivery team and promotes Agile tenets and principles, including emerging designs, refactoring of technical debt, and Minimum Viable Product concepts. They demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in their daily work, resilience to change, and accountability both at a personal and team level.

As an expert in MGIC’s Data & Analytics technology stack including Cloudera and Informatica, they assist with development, testing, and deployment as needed. As a senior team member, they coach and mentor team members in best practices and industry standards.

Maintainability, extensibility, and security are of paramount importance to the Solution Architect as they guide the Data & Analytics team towards a DevOps culture of advanced test automation, monitoring, and operational excellence. They maintain robust technical and non-technical documentation, and contributes to troubleshooting, support, and operational activities as required.

The Solution Architect communicates solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. They collaborate with partner teams including enterprise architecture, engineering, system administration, and business units.

What we’re looking for: (requirements)

•Requirements include a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Information Systems. Additional years of related work experience may be substituted for education beyond an Associate Degree.
•The candidate is versatile team player, focusing on achieving outcomes through teaming and collaboration.
•Qualified candidates have demonstrable experience with Hadoop and ETL tools, with Cloudera and Informatica preferred as well as relational databases such as Oracle and DB2.
•Expertise in Solution Design practices and techniques is required.
•Experience working on Agile project teams, applying Agile tenets to data modeling and solution design is required.
•Familiarity with end-user BI and analytic tools, such as Tableau and SAS, is a plus.
•Exposure to test automation, continuous delivery, and a DevOps culture applied to data management solutions is a plus.
•Exceptional written and verbal communication is a must, with a demonstrated ability to express technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
