The System Implementations and Support team is responsible for tier 2 lottery system and Interactive service operations support and system builds for quality assurance, development, and several individual jurisdictions. This includes support for Windows and Linux, SQL Server and MySQL, and web hosting in a virtual environment as well as proprietary software support. SIS Engineers work closely with other Scientific Games departments to ensure the timely support of all products. They must be able to demonstrate a high degree of initiative and provide timely completion of assigned tasks, respecting the organizational level and service level agreements in place. An SIS Engineer must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of troubleshooting techniques and logical thought processes.
Essential Job Functions:
•Provide tier 2 technical support during a 24x7 on call rotation to Scientific Games Lottery and Interactive based production systems
•Provide tier 2 support to development and QA systems
•New system implementation including builds, system performance analysis, and vetting
•Troubleshooting of production problems including defining root causes and solutions
•Liaison between Operations and Development groups
•Technical Documentation
•Communicate technical incident details to business customers
•Remotely build, configure, and manage Windows Server and Linux enterprise systems
•Create, maintain, and update troubleshooting procedures, knowledge base articles, and technical bulletins
•Prioritize through evaluating impact, severity, and resources available
•Provides onsite support during system implementations and system overhauls
Education: Associate’s Degree in a related field of study required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Minimum Required Experience:
•3 years’ experience in the Data center or operations support field
Preferred Experience:
•Lottery Industry experience
•5+ years’ experience in the Data center or operations support field
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
•Windows Server (2008+) administrative experience
•Linux (Ubuntu 12+ or RHEL 6+) administrative experience
•Familiarity with SQL Server or MySQL
•Knowledge of scripting practices for Unix/Linux Shell scripting as well as SQL query authoring
•Thorough understanding of server hardware
•Understanding of network communications fundamentals
•Excellent system and network troubleshooting skills
•Excellent time management and organizational skills
•Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
•Demonstrated ability to work and prioritize with minimal direct supervision
•Comfortable working within a disbursed team over a wide geographic area
•Experience supporting high availability environments with clustering and database replication is a plus
•Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate ideas and concepts with customers
•Demonstrated ability to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously
