Our client is a widely recognized law firm that is looking for an Accounting Specialist to join their team in Washington, DC. They serve a variety of clients regarding their legal issues in finance, retirement, health care, and the public sector. The Accounting Specialist assists the Accounting Department with all day-to-day functions, including accounts receivable, general ledger account coding, review of AP activity, financial and accounting report production, bank statement reconciliation, and other projects. They will be working for a top-tier law firm with exceptional employees who are dedicated and personable.
Accounting Specialist duties may include:
-Preparation of journal entries
-Manage the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company’s automated accounts payable system
-Code payables for accounts payable entries; ensure expenditures are in accordance with accounting policies and procedures
-Conduct invoice activities and pay vendors
-Prepare, log and review bank account credits and debits
-Research, review, and apply all incoming cash receipts promptly and accurately
-Resolve rejections; work with the billing department to successfully resolve any billing issues
-Assist with month end close
-Assist with annual budget preparation
-Assist with schedules and analyses for annual firm and pension audits
-Perform special projects as needed and provide support to the accounting team
Candidates for the Accounting Specialist position should meet some or all of the following requirements:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
-3-5 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in a law firm or detail oriented services environment
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Excel features, such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP functionality, is a plus
-Familiarity with accounting software; Aderant and/or Chrome River experience is a plus, but not required
-Excellent written and verbal communication
-Strict attention to detail
-Prioritization of multiple tasks
-Ability to meet frequent deadlines
-Ability to adapt with changing assignments and priorities
-Ability to work well under pressure
