Job Description:
The Operational Based Vision Assessment (OBVA) Lab Software Developer serves as an integral team member. Provides application software development services or technical support, typically for a defined project. Develops program logic for new applications, modify, and analyze existing application logic. Codes, tests, debugs, documents, implements and maintains software applications. Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices. Uses experience and problem solving skills to develop and improve processes. Provides engineering support for operations of the OBVA laboratory and any satellite data collection sites. Interacts with a small team of software engineers and uses Agile project management to meet Government software development requirements for lab research projects involving prototype user interfaces and virtual environments. Manages aspects of the OBVA lab's Automated Vision Test system design, development, deployment, and sustainment, the latter including data collection and aggregation from deployed systems within the lab and with U.S. and international collaboration partners. Performs or coordinates all engineering maintenance and support for laboratory equipment and simulations.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field required, Master's Degree preferred. 2+ years applicable software design engineering experience.
Strong visualization skills with the ability to clearly communicate, in writing and orally.
Highly refined analytical, problem-solving, task management, and organizational skills.
Understand Agile project management principles and their application in software development.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment among functional peers to support deadlines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Project) required.
Proficient with Matlab and Simulink, C/C++, Python, C#, and VB.NET.
Must be able to attain a Secret Clearance.
Experience with flight simulation devices / virtual environments highly desired.
Experience with the fundamentals of optics
Experience implementing code using equations and concepts from mathematical statistics to include psychometric equations, sampling methods, and randomization methods

Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen - - - Ensure candidate experience relates to that provided in job description and experience is clearly identifiable on resume for client review - - - Opportunity for contract-to-hire based on worker performance, worker attendance and dependability and client business needs .- - - Start date will be moved up as needed in order for selected candidate to start ASAP once on-boarding is completed/clear and final clearance is obtained. Be sure your candidates are available to start right away once on-boarding is complete. - - - Worker will utilize DelTek for weekly time reporting. It is imperative that the registration is completed as soon as possible after receipt of registration invitation. Your attention to this process will eliminate delays in receipt of worker hours and invoice creation. - - - There is a chance for some OT (overtime) as needed and must be approved by *** supervisor - - - Client manager will conduct phone and in-person interview.
