REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt

Overhill Farms is a leading custom manufacturer of high quality prepared frozen foods, serving customers in the branded retail, private label and foodservice sectors. We provide a one-stop solution that offers new product development or precise replication of existing recipes as well as product manufacturing and packaging. Our custom product lines include poultry, meat and fish specialties, pastas, soups, sauces, certified organic and vegetarian offerings. These can be prepared as entres, plated meals or bulk-packed meal components.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, Maintenance Helpers assist skilled and semi-skilled trades positions by performing a variety of relatively unskilled tasks while learning a trade. Maintenance Helpers perform the heavier, less difficult and more repetitive activities and tasks involving the use of elementary skills in one or a combination of the mechanical, building, equipment and electrical trades.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist maintenance mechanic in doing his job by disassembling/assembling equipment, lubricating, and etc. as directed.
  • Assist maintenance mechanic by performing the heavier and less skilled work such as moving equipment (Line Set Up), painting, cleaning shop and work areas, organizing parts and etc. as directed.
  • On assignment to the electrical trades assists Electrician in electrical work by performing such tasks as assisting on new installations, other manual tasks as directed; disassembling motors and cleaning parts as directed; inspecting and lubricating motors and other electrical and related installations and reporting on their operating condition; changing light bulbs and tubes.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and motorized equipment.
  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
