Our client is seeking an Informatics Educator to support assessments of current clinical systems seeking constant improvement for efficiencies. This position will work with the Clinical Analyst team and clinics to develop customized plans using informatics related to the healthcare industry. In addition, this position will utilize this date to develop efficient training for new and current clinical systems/software. The overall goal of this position is to ensure the effectiveness of systems/software and that the internal employees are utilizing appropriately.

Client Job Description:
The Clinical Informatics Educator is a key IT position responsible for delivering training and education to all existing and new end users in the organization on how to use various types of clinical software efficiently and effectively in support of business, regulatory, quality of care and outcome objectives. The Clinical Informatics Educator will apply in-depth healthcare and informatics knowledge to design and improve clinical software training programs and related courseware. The Clinical Informatics Educator proactively builds in competency testing and then measures/validates retention of course material. The Clinical Informatics Educator is a critical thinker and a champion of learning and change management in the organization. The Clinical Informatics Educator understands the importance of a balanced approach in training and is driven to implement system-wide training solutions to meet the needs of a variety of staff styles and needs, measure organizational performance, increase effectiveness, and drive process improvement.

  1. Develop, publish and implement training modules for new, existing and upgraded clinical software, including all education materials, training schedules, exercises, and skills evaluations.
  2. Create and administer training event feedback mechanisms. Analyze results, make recommendations for training improvement, and integrate changes in curriculum and/or courses.
  3. The Clinical Informatics Educator will actively contribute to a Clinical Steering Committee workgroup dedicated to establishing a new foundation for advancing clinical delivery and quality outcomes through effective clinical software use.
  4. Train managers, supervisors, physicians and staff to optimize the use of clinical software through implementation, education, training, quality outcomes, and providing support in accordance with organizational goals.
  5. Participate in periodic field observations with clinicians to evaluate training program and clinical systems efficiency/effectiveness for staff.
  6. Assist in the development of policies and procedures for the use of clinical software and support end user accountability to those policies and procedures.
  7. Incorporate change management principles to facilitate workflow and business process changes, ensuring the success and optimization of new or upgraded clinical software.
  8. Ensure that new or upgraded clinical software is used in a way to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy, in accordance with HIPAA and all other applicable regulatory agency requirements.
  9. Fulfill multiple roles throughout the evaluation, acquisition, development, implementation, management, and on-going support of clinical software.
  10. Plan and organize day-to-day activities, short and long-term projects with in-depth knowledge of organizational and project planning processes, produce and maintain high quality planning documents.
  11. Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership and staff to prioritize training/education needs and improvement initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare informatics, healthcare technology, teaching/education from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience and proven success with clinical software implementation and training in a large organization with healthcare EMRs and other supporting software, data analytics/informatics and reporting/dashboards.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in training staff to adopt new workflows and tools, requiring strong change management skills, strong knowledge of systems/technology, workflow planning, gathering business requirements and transforming them into functional specifications.
  • Expertise in a healthcare environment and utilizing healthcare technology; background, experience and performance that promotes a high level of credibility with clinical professionals.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry best practices and processes for providing clinical services. Incorporate into patient needs assessment, tracking of quality standards for services, and evaluation of patient satisfaction.
  • Excellent written, oral, instructional, presentation and interpersonal skills focused on motivation and positive attitude. Highly self-motivated, directed and change oriented.
  • Ability to research course development, delivery concepts and technical issues.
  • Able to work, contribute to and flourish in a team centric, collaborative environment.
  • Strong consulting skills; excellent collaborator with the ability to quickly establish rapport and credibility at all levels within an organization, including the executive and board-level.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight but with attention to detail.
  • Results oriented, strong project management and organizational skills; ability to effectively organize and drive projects to conclusion; anticipating next steps.
  • Ability to effectively analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner with strong business judgement.
  • Proven success to effectively build, teach, coach, mentor and lead a team, creating and maintaining a collaborative and respectful team environment.
  • Identifies and pursues own professional development needs and seeks appropriate assistance.
  • Possess and maintains good physical stamina and mental health. Has presented a pre-employment physician's health clearance including a negative TB skin test and/or CXR and other tests as required by organizational policy.
