Senior DevOps Systems Administrator

Job Summary

Provide day to day problem resolution for university systems as tier I support. Adhere to documentation on systems architectures, scripting diagnosis, systems practices and processes to satisfy business continuity, PCI DSS, security, inventory, and supportability requirements.

Under moderate supervision provide programming production support in the building, configuration, operation, monitoring and maintenance of scripts and code used to administer and automate UITS servers and systems. Continue to develop knowledge of a subset of servers and systems supported by the team.

Assist internal and external partners in monitoring, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers and systems. Monitor patches and updates for a subset of servers and systems with latest operating system, application, and other security updates.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field. 2 years of experience as a Systems Software Developer. At least 2 years of Linux system administration experience with system access controls, server systems networking, network mounts, shell scripting, and logical volume management. At least 2 years of Windows system administration experience with system access controls, server systems networking, network shares, and PowerShell and batch scripting. At least 2 years of using firewalls, DNS, traffic management, and web filtering with Linux and Windows systems. At least 2 years of experience maintaining or supporting VMware infrastructure. Or using VMware to manage virtual machines. At least 2 years of experience using automation and scripting tools for Linux and Windows administrative tasks. At least 2 years of experience installing, deploying and supporting Zabbix; and using Zabbix to monitor servers and services. At least 2 years of experience installing, deploying and supporting Graylog log management system; and using Graylog to collect, store, and analyzed log data. At least 2 years of experience with backup and recovery strategies. At least 1 year of experience with web application management using Apache or IIS. At least 1 year of experience supporting and configuring MySQL and PostgreSQL drivers; and maintaining MySQL and PostgreSQL databases on Linux and Windows server systems.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge in administration of systems including; building, configuration, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of a wide variety of servers and systems, such as web servers, database servers, file and print servers, virtualization hosts and remote desktop farms. Knowledge of various computer systems, storage systems, backup systems, network systems, network protocol and software interfaces.
