Job Description

Lehigh Technical & Professional Service is a leading staffing agency dating back to the 1950's. We specialize in direct placement and temporary positions in the fields of: IT, Engineering, Manufacturing, Accounting and Administrative. We are currently partnering with a leading manufacturing company to assist them in their search for a Mechanical Engineer.

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work in a fast-paced environment developing sophisticated batteries, battery chargers and other related products. You will work in the product development engineering group on multidisciplinary teams working towards committed timelines. You will typically be responsible for several projects which will be in various stages of development.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and comfortable working directly with senior management from various departments. The candidate must be able to develop multiple design concepts using appropriate manufacturing techniques, materials, processes and tolerances.

Job Responsibilities:

Mechanical development of batteries, chargers, inverters and other related products.

Analyze designs for performance during rigorous use in extreme environmental conditions.

Use Solidworks 3D CAD to develop assembly layouts and development of components including injection molded parts, contacts, printed circuit boards, sheet metal parts and other fabricated and purchased components.

Participate in and conduct design reviews

Track progress on project and keep personal action item list.

Coordination and active involvement through prototype and early production build of new products.

Select, meet and coordinate with suppliers to generate quotes, build prototype components, transition into production and resolve technical issues with subcontracted parts.

Coordinate and conduct first article testing of new products. Resolve test issues and report on results.

Release drawings and generate Engineering Change Orders for new and legacy products through formal document control system.

Review inspection reports on incoming components for conformance to design. requirements. Make corrective action recommendations for non-conforming items.

Support proposal efforts by analyzing customer requirements and developing conceptual layouts, drawings, and project cost estimates.

Analyze current products for performance and producibility improvements.

Resolve issues with legacy products as they come up on the assembly floor and at suppliers.

Additional duties as assigned


Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree required


10-15 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

Must have experience with the design and development of electronic products and injection molded components.

Must be proficient in 3D CAD for modeling, drafting, and analysis.

Solidworks experience a plus, Certified Solidworks Professional Certificate an extra plus.
