UHG is addressing the rapidly growing demand for information and evidence of corporate Environmental, Social and Governance ("ESG") performance by establishing a dedicated ESG Disclosure Manager to lead in the delivery of sustainability information to key stakeholders - shareholders, raters & rankers, regulators, customers, and employees. This role will support the advancement of UHG’s voluntary ESG reporting and disclosure capabilities by leading projects to assemble and deliver UHG qualitative and quantitative performance data in line with recognized standards, frameworks, and rating and ranking agencies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage ESG content, data/KPI information, disclosure preparation, and reporting across the enterprise to advance UHG’s reputation and commercial objectives

  • Lead and project manage submissions to major indices, ratings and rankings organizations, voluntary frameworks, customer RFPs, company awards and updates to policy statements (e.g., CDP, EcoVadis, MSCI, DJIS, JUST Capital)

  • Design and deploy an enterprise ESG disclosure strategy and operational framework

  • Enhance and maintain the sustainability-focused webpages on the company’s public webpages and develop associated data summaries and reports for internal and external stakeholders

  • Engage with key corporate functions and oversight committees for approval of ESG disclosures and develop executive-level presentations and communications, including for Board of Directors, CEO and Senior VPs

  • Collaborate with key process owners throughout the organization to support the operation of controls for ESG reporting, aligning processes to relevant control frameworks

  • Monitor ongoing and rapidly changing dynamics in the sustainability reporting space, with a specific focus on ESG reporting frameworks (i.e. SASB/IFRS, GRI, TCFD, etc.) and emerging regulatory ESG disclosure

  • Interpret the assessment, measurement, reporting, and communication of ESG data and information to various stakeholders

  • Work to ensure UHG’s ESG reporting is evolving to best-in-class expectations and aligned with priority indices, ratings agencies, and voluntary frameworks

  • Partner with Sustainability team members to streamline ESG data collection and reporting

  • Identify innovative and efficient approaches to ESG data, case studies, and KPI reporting to enhance authenticity and credibility

  • Develop and maintain up-to-date presentation materials for meetings with various stakeholder groups on ESG KPIs, metrics and data points

  • Manage engagement with the external ratings agencies such as MSCI, Sustainalytics by acting as steward for the online portals and as a liaison with analysts

  • Serve as ESG point-person for customer requests (e.g., tenders, customer surveys, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of work experience with 2+ years of corporate sustainability either in-house or in a consulting role

  • 2+ years of experience with ESG/sustainability reporting landscape, the key frameworks (DJIS, EcoVadis, NAIC, CDP, MSCI, Sustainalytics in particular), and evolving regulatory landscape

  • Proven experience successfully delivering within a fast-paced environment

  • Solid knowledge base and experience with reporting/engaging to help drive progress in key ESG topic areas of healthcare access, affordability, human capital, DE&I, business ethics and governance, privacy and data security, etc.

  • Ability to build relationships and work with cross-functional partners to ensure alignment

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
