Job Description:

Enterprise Data Risk Compliance and Operational Risk (EDR COR) an Enterprise Area of Coverage team, seeks to deliver effective independent risk management of the activities and processes associated with managing the Company’s data. The team provides 2nd line oversight of Enterprise Data Strategy & Governance (EDSG), Chief Data Office (CDO) and coordinates Enterprise wide Data Risk coverage with 2nd line of defense partners.

The Enterprise Data Risk Compliance and Operational Risk team is seeking multiple individuals with a focus on one the following data related skills sets:

  • Machine learning systems and natural language processing – The EDR COR Specialist has knowledge of machine learning systems and natural language processing (e.g. Artificial Intelligence and models) to better understand and identify data risks related to models, methods and other uses of technology. This is a 2nd line role which will require partnering with the Model Risk Management function who are responsible for the validation of AI Model

  • Data quality controls and testing – The EDR COR Specialist is responsible for risk assessing the data quality dimensions around accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.  The 1st line of defense and other control functions are responsible for their data quality controls and related testing. This 2nd line of defense role will focus on risk assessing the controls and testing performed by the 1st line and control functions

  • Data metrics – The EDR COR Specialist is responsible for establishing and monitoring risk metrics to measure the effectiveness of business data decisions and data risk management; analysis of their respective metrics & reporting; and review of front unit and control function metric breach notifications

The Enterprise Data Risk Compliance & Operational Risk (C&OR) Specialist is an individual contributor member of the EDR COR team that executes the 2nd line of defense independent Data Risk Management program of compliance and operational risk management. The role executes risk assessments of the various types of data risks across lines of business and control functions, e.g., data quality risk, data movement risk, data fit for purpose risk and data governance. The EDR COR Specialist will ensure effective analysis and measurements of key data risks are established, measured and monitored.

The EDR COR Specialist is responsible for enterprise-wide oversight of processes, controls, laws, rules, and/or regulations that have enterprise-wide applicability and collaborates with 1st line of defense partners (Enterprise Data Strategy & Governance and Chief Data Office) and 2nd line of defense partners. Additionally, the specialist will stay current on emerging data capabilities, methods and tools related to their area of coverage.

The EDR COR Specialist assists in engaging other COR officers, including horizontal coverage owners, to provide comprehensive oversight of Front line unit/Control Function (FLU/CF) activities. This role assists in developing and maintaining a global coverage plan which defines the scope and risk-based focus of the second line of defenses risk management activities. The EDR COR Specialist also assists in preparing materials for COR regulatory exams/audits/inquiries and may assist with preparation for FLU/CF regulatory exams/audits/inquiries.

The EDR COR Specialist has one or more of the following:

  • Strong knowledge of metrics development principles and data visualization (e.g. tableau)

  • Desire to identify and compare data quality issues and monitor performance and quality control plans to identify any issues or ways to improve systems

  • Knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing technology (e.g. knowledge reviewing results related to algorithms to generate predictions to identify data risks)

The EDR COR Specialist has:

  • Passion for data combined with intellectual curiosity and learning agility to accurately interpret, understand and evaluate a variety of risks to data across multiple lines of business and control functions

  • Strong analytical skills (including both analysis of financial data and written reports). Talk and writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience

  • Good business-centric mindset with ability to utilize sound business judgment to problem solve, analyze complex situations and drive issues to completion

  • Experience of projects and working with teams with diverse skill sets, executing a long term departmental strategy and comfortable with working in a changing environment

Activities this role performs for their area of coverage include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the development of independent risk management reporting as input into governance and management routines

  • Assists with the oversight of FLU/CF training, which may include content development and/or tracking and communication of completion rates

  • Assists with the development and maintenance of COR-owned policies and standards to ensure regulatory and operational risk requirements are appropriately addressed, inclusive of conduct risk as applicable

  • Monitors the regulatory environment to identify regulatory changes applicable to area(s) of coverage and maintains a comprehensive regulatory inventory; may support communication of regulatory changes to the FLU/CF and ensuring that policies, standards, procedures and/or processes are appropriately implemented or amended to address regulatory requirements

  • Assists in identifying, aggregating, reporting, escalating, inspecting and challenging remediation plans, and performing thematic analysis on FLU/CF-owned issues and control enhancements

  • Assists in remediating C&OR “owned” issues and control enhancements

  • Executes COR Monitoring, Testing, and Assessments; communicates results

  • Reviews and challenges the FLU/CF process, risk, control (PRC) inventory and FLU/CF Risk & Control Self- Assessment (RCSA)

  • Supports the review and challenge of internal and external operational loss events, including development of remediation plans to strengthen controls

  • Supports Scenario Analysis activities to provide a forward-looking estimate of hypothetical operational losses

  • Assists with the development of risk metrics, monitors related performance and breach remediation plans to strengthen controls

Required Skills:

  • 4+ years of Financial Services experience

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy

  • Experience in Data Management, Risk Management and or Business Controls
