Under the direct supervision of Workshop Operations Manager and in coordination with Assistant Facility Managers, operates Ability KC vehicles which are used to transport materials to and from Institute and customer locations. Loads and unloads materials using fork lift and pallet jacks. Ensures accuracy of all shipping and receiving documents and assists in resolving discrepancies. Distributes incoming materials to appropriate locations, prepares outgoing orders for delivery and assists in maintaining inventory and quality control records. Assists with material management on receiving docks and in warehouse – maintain in clean and orderly condition. Tracks preventive maintenance schedule of equipment and vehicle and apprises supervisor of maintenance needs. Conducts operations in a manner which promotes safety and compliance with OSHA and ISO standards. Maintains effective relationships with customers and co-workers. Performs other related duties, including fulfilling role of production supervisor, as assigned by supervisory personnel. Required valid Class E Chauffeurs license issued by the State of Missouri. Must successfully complete DOT health and drug screening.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
A minimum of one year employment as a truck or delivery driver. Experience with supply distribution.
Valid Class E Chauffeurs license issued by the State of Missouri. DOT Health Certification. Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and efficiently. Working knowledge of metropolitan area and local traffic laws, DOT/OSHA transportation/vehicle regulations. Possess valid driver’s license, capable of driving and has access to personal transportation.
Knowledge, desire and ability to communicate the environmental and job training benefits of the Book De-binding and Recycling Project to donors, vendors, staff and other Ability KC stakeholders. Ability to perform routine tasks and to understand and carry out written/oral instructions. Physical strength, endurance, and stamina to perform required duties.
