Junior Business Intelligence Analyst

Key responsibilities

The role is expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Design & create dashboards, reports, charts and other data visualizations
    • Offering analytical complexity and depth through expert knowledge of each software tool
    • Aiming for a high-quality user experience at all times
    • With attention to detail when it comes to layout, color, shape, texture and other design aspects.
    • Targeting specific questions or challenges emerging from JLL’s brokerage business lines.
    • Standing as client-ready: content that engages and speaks to JLL’s clients while communicating a clear message that helps inform decision-making.
  • Perform the most common functions in ArcGIS and ArcCatalog including
    • Set up file geodatabases
    • Modify attribute tables
    • Join tables
    • Create point, line and polygon features
    • Label features
    • Create centroid coordinates
    • Design map layouts
    • Perform basic geoprocessing tasks such as clipping, dissolving or merging features and intersecting or union layers.
    • Exporting shapefiles and uploading these into Blackbird, our proprietary geospatial mapping tool
  • Perform the most common functions in Tableau and MS SQL Server Management Studio
    • Understanding relational databases, tables, views, queries and SQL
    • Creating tables joins, custom SQL queries and setting up data blends
    • Verifying data points, spotting inaccuracies or errors and reporting these to the data quality team
    • Creating a variety of both simple and more complex chart types such as bar charts, scatterplots, Sankey diagrams or Gantt charts, among others
    • Understanding filter hierarchies and manipulating data through a sequence of data source, context, dimension & measure filters as well as level of detail calculations.
    • Creating parameters and calculated fields
    • Applying filter, set, parameter, URL and sheet actions to enhance user interaction
    • Formatting all elements of a dashboard, from title to tooltip
    • Other functions of Tableau and MS SQL Server Management Studio as needed
  • Collect and prepare relevant data from ESRI, RCA, Axiometrics or other third-party resources.
  • Store and maintain an easily searchable database of geospatial layers for Blackbird.
  • Standardize dashboards, reporting tools and mapping products to increase efficiency and reduce turn-around time.
  • Work closely with all research analysts and managers in the Florida markets to determine the best dashboard, reporting and mapping outputs for a given client or brokerage request.
  • Contribute to commercial real estate market/industry knowledge through the collection of relevant data.


  • Strong educational background with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Technology, Geography, GIS, Sociology, Business, Economics, Real Estate, Graphic Design, Interactive Media or related field; or
  • Demonstrated proficiency in GIS and Tableau (can be a minor degree, certificate, transcript of GIS/Tableau classes, portfolio, etc.) with at least 1 year of experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Proficiency in Tableau and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
  • Proficiency in ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Online and Business Analyst Online
  • Proficiency in Google Earth Pro and working knowledge of KML/KMZ files
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign is a plus, but not a must
  • Superior design skills: being deliberate in making design choices and exercising an attention to detail that is visible in the final client deliverable.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, both in person and through data visualizations and maps
  • Proactive attitude when it comes to handling brokerage requests; a can-do spirit.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time and workload in an organized manner.
  • Ability to exceed client expectations and positively represent the firm.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as in collaboration with other team members. Nearly all projects involve the input of multiple analysts, managers and brokers.
  • Understanding of real estate markets, primarily retail, and a dedication to learning about the real estate industry and local markets.
