Our Marketing team is looking for a dynamic Content Specialist and Proofreader to join any one of our offices: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Hartford or Roseland.

Under the supervision of the content strategist, the content specialist will edit and proofread thought leadership and promotional content across all service lines, including advisory, assurance and tax. The role requires project management skills to initiate content projects, manage content through the production process and ensure timely delivery to the marketing department.

We are looking for an agile, meticulous candidate who can edit highly complex content for a variety of digital formats. The candidate should be self-motivated and have strong written and verbal communication skills, with a clear understanding and awareness of copy editing best practices in a digital environment. The candidate must have a strong grasp of AP Style and a willingness to adapt to emerging digital best practices.

Though the candidate primarily will edit content written by outside writers and internal subject-matter experts, the position also requires light writing for webpage copy, short-form content and promotional material.

The candidate must have advanced capabilities in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat, and some experience with Microsoft Excel.


  • Proofreads, fact checks and copyedits thought leadership and collateral to meet AP Style standards, while also meeting regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Understands content objectives through secondary research and can offer suggestions regarding messaging and direction.
  • Edits core content for channels such as email and social media.
  • Establishes a rapport with internal clients. Coordinates with digital leads and creative managers.
  • Ensures that content aligns with brand-specific guidelines and restrictions.
  • Maintains an editorial calendar and keeps the firm’s editorial guidelines current.
  • Plays a role in coordinating larger content projects, bringing writers and subject-matter experts together.
  • Performs other job-related tasks, as needed, to assist the larger marketing team, such as onboarding new writing resources.
  • Undertakes quality and risk assessment of content and provides high-level feedback to internal clients.
  • Manages the intake of new content projects, coordinates approvals, assigns resources and drives content projects through production using the firm’s digital workflow management platform.

Qualifications and Qualities

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications or other writing-intensive field.
  • At least two years of copy editing or communications experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Flawless grasp of language, grammar, syntax and structure of deliverables, from long-form articles to web copy.
  • Efficient and creative; able to uphold quantity and quality standards established by upper management.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent proofreading skills with an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Experience working in a B2B or professional services environment is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks on deadline.
  • Self-starter approach with an eagerness to consistently meet and exceed objectives and take on more responsibility.  
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of SEO concepts preferred.
