Weichert Co. is hiring a Portfolio Manager in Morris Plains, NJ. This role is responsible for assuring the alignment of IT services to the needs of the business, current and future. As such, the Portfolio Manager is accountable to the Business Sponsor / Product Manager, and is responsible for understanding deeply where the business is today, where it is going in the future, how well the IT products and platform(s) (applications, infrastructure, service management, etc.) are supporting the business, and what things need to be done to fill gaps. The Portfolio Manager is a business manager. He/she must:
* Understand the competitive landscape in which the business operates.
* Understand the brand and go-to-market strategy, and help shape that, in a changing environment.
* Facilitate reviews of the business and the IT portfolio with stakeholders in the "product ecosystem" that includes executive leadership, sales, marketing, legal/compliance and IT.
* Formulate business cases, shape products, create continuous improvement strategies and interface with both the business and IT competencies to drive value for the business.
* Be the IT face of the business and product in front of customers. The Portfolio Manager must have strong Product Management skills and may need to act as a Product Owner at times, while maintaining the broader strategic focus of this role. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as an engineer with an eCommerce website or highly scalable web application. Business experience around Digital Marketing and Customer engagement as well as Lead Generation will elevate the effectiveness in the job role. This candidate should have working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript and will have a practical understanding of front-end development, building integrations with third party systems, full-stack .Net infrastructure, database structure and design, synchronous and asynchronous interfaces, and scalability issues of highly-trafficked digital applications; in support of multiple sites across our brands. While the Portfolio Manager role is the nucleus of the product ecosystem, additional technical experience that can help guide product strategy include the following is ideal:
* Understanding/Experience in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
* Knowledge of architecture, design and business processes.
* Experience with full-stack .Net development with specialization on front end development and performance optimization.
* Recent experience with current web technologies: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS preprocessors and font icons, at least two modern web frameworks (Angular, Backbone, Ember, React, Polymer, etc), and front-end build tools.
* Experience building eCommerce and/or Digital Wallet applications.
* Understanding of functional programming techniques is a plus (filter, map, reduce, curry, etc).
* Experience in developing, deploying, and/or supporting a public-facing web-based applications. Portfolio Assessment and Planning:
* Conduct periodic reviews of the business and IT portfolio in order to assess the degree to which IT is driving value for the business.
* Conceive of IT innovations, strategies and products that will have positive value and returns for the business.
* Develop business cases in partnership with the business to drive strategic products.
* Develop and maintain product roadmaps depicting the portfolio over an agreed planning horizon. The roadmap should show the current systems, future systems and intervening product plans to achieve agreed and funded goals.
* Conduct regular briefings to spur inspiration around innovations and new capabilities that will drive value for the business. These may include business model changes, new technologies, product ideation, etc.
* Review and improve processes for engaging IT, whether for new product requests or requests for service.
* Design, propose and implement an organization structure that best delivers value for the portfolio of products to the business.
* Work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals. Product Delivery:
* Shape products within the portfolio, based on business requests for enhancements and/or based on a proposed portfolio strategy.
* Accountable for estimation of products and requests for service. Product Owners in the portfolio may be assigned responsibility for estimate coordination, but the Portfolio Manager should be aware of what's being requested, how it fits strategically and opportunities for identifying solution options.
* Act as Product Owner in some instances where the importance of the portfolio warrants, and/or where bandwidth allows.
* Interface with business and IT stakeholders to capture status, assess risks and identify service improvement opportunities in cases where service levels are not being met.
* Provide mentoring and guidance to Product Owners to ensure their approach is clear and well-understood and that products are delivering their intended benefits. Portfolio Reviews
* Capture and present the status of Products and Services to business stakeholders at intervals agreed with the business.
* Interface with business and IT stakeholders to capture status, assess risks and identify service improvement opportunities in cases where service levels are not being met. Competencies, Working Skills and Attributes:

* Bachelor's degree. Degree in management information systems, business, or related field preferred.
* Must have at least 8 (eight) years of progressive experience - specific to IT portfolio management and project management
* Previous experience working as an engineer with an ecommerce website or highly scalable web application preferred
* Understanding/Experience in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
* Knowledge of architecture, design and business processes.
* Experience with full-stack .Net development with specialization on front end development and performance optimization.
* Experience building eCommerce and/or Digital Wallet applications.
* Understanding of functional programming techniques is a plus (filter, map, reduce, curry, etc).
* Experience in developing, deploying, and/or supporting a public-facing web-based applications.
* Skilled in developing and sustaining positive interpersonal relationships
* Experience managing mid-sized information technology projects a plus
* Ability to work across all levels of an organization, producing and delivering executive-level communications and also working details will the lowest level team members
* Experience with current web technologies: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS preprocessors and font icons, at least two modern web frameworks (Angular, Backbone, Ember, React, Polymer, etc), and front-end build tools.
* Proficient in project management core competencies such as scope, time, budget, risk, quality, integration, resource management, and communications
* Able to work in a team and produce results independently
* Proactive, execution focused, results oriented, and able to solve complex problems
* Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written
* Effective in working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives and able to manage conflict
* Able to package data, process, and project status in a highly consumable and executable manner
* A track record of creativity and innovation in solutions
