The VP of Information Technology will provide the strategic vision and leadership across all aspects of IT at Company Systems. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Company’s network infrastructure, software development, security, data and application support in a 24x7x365 transportation and logistics organization. The VP of Information Technology will act as an advisor to the executive team on recommendations to enhance processes, workflows, systems, and services through technology and will lead the development and implementation of IT initiatives that are key strategic priorities for Company Systems. The successful candidate will have or obtain a solid understanding of the freight transportation industry and related technologies. This position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE VICE PRESIDENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY:

  • Oversee all 24x7x365 operations within the IT Department to maximize uptime, performance, productivity, services, and network security.
  • Lead the evaluation of IT products, partners and associated vendors, including negotiating contracts for services, and facilitate the successful implementation of new technologies.
  • Provide recommendations for hardware and software upgrades, as appropriate, to further improve operations, security and enhance value.
  • Collaborate with the Executive team and business leaders to identify and implement technology-based solutions for strategic and operational objectives.
  • Ensure the IT Department maintains comprehensive documentation regarding service desk requests, IT assets, system policies and procedures.
  • Provide management and oversight to employees within the IT Department. The VP has 3 Director-level managers and Project Management as direct reports.
  • Develop and manage vendor/partner relationships and ensure accountability.
  • Maintain CAPEX and OPEX budgets as well as processing and oversight of IT purchases.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the executive team.

GENERAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, required.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years professional experience in IT, preferably in a mid to large size company (500+ users).
  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of demonstrated experience in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Solid understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity planning and incident management.
  • ITIL certification or equivalent experience in service desk operations.
  • Experience with information security and risk management guidelines and best practices.
  • Knowledge of data center operations in a high availability 24x7x365 environment.
  • Understanding of access control systems and other physical security controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of the latest technologies related to IT systems.
  • Knowledge of the Transportation and Logistics industry

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

  • Microsoft 365, including Azure AD & SSO
  • Microsoft’s technology stack including Active Directory and Server OS, GPO, IIS, Window 10, MS Office
  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
  • SAN systems (HPE/Nimble)
  • High availability server systems and databases (MS SQL)
  • Firewall and security appliances (Palo Alto, Meraki)
  • Advanced IP networking, SD-WAN, WLAN, VPN
  • VoIP hosted phone systems and contact center technologies
  • Business intelligence platforms (Sisense)
  • Hypervisor platforms (Hyper-V)
  • Document management systems
  • Familiarity with web application and mobile development concepts and tools (Agile, Microsoft development stack, DevOps)
  • EDI and data integrations, ETL, APIs
  • Solid understanding of desktop hardware and software (Common web browsers, PCs, printers, scanners, etc
