Job Description: Engineer and analyst to perform mechanical analysis tasks on complex systems including precision mechanisms, electro-mechanical hardware, opto-mechanical, and complex electronic packaging in a program team environment. This position is responsible for the analysis of composite and metallic and assemblies for space, airborne, and ground based systems

Essential Functions:
  • Senior professional with strong background and experiences in analysis and analysis tools
  • Help develop analysis approach and review results for others in mechanical engineering department.
  • Interpret design specifications and create finite element models of complex components and assemblies for structural, thermal, and CFD analysis.
  • Evaluate model results with respect to static, dynamic, and thermal requirements, both design and derived, at the component and assembly level as required.
  • Prepare reports, formal documentation, and presentation materials summarizing analysis results and presenting results to both external and internal groups.
  • Role includes support across project lifecycle, including mission/requirements definition, concept generation, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, component selection, integration and test support, field support, materials selection, CAD 3D solid modeling, design documentation and collaboration with manufacturing operations for fabrication in a program team environment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with minimum of 6 years prior relevant experience, or graduate degree with minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience
  • Strong experience with one or more analytical software packages (Ansys preferred, but additional packages such as NASTRAN/PATRAN, FEMAP, FloTherm, Thermal Desktop, Star-CCM are also desired)
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written), collaboration, time management, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of mechanical design best practices and common aerospace materials.
  • Ability to tailor analytical solutions to project needs, including design requirements, schedules, and budgets
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical problems to technical and non-technical stakeholders and leaders
  • Experience with creating engineering estimates, plans, and BoE’s
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with design engineering, systems engineering, project engineering, and program management
  • Must be a U.S. Person
  • Ability to obtain security clearance if required
