19 miles southwest of Cleveland, Olmsted Falls is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio and a southwestern suburb of Cleveland. The population was 9,024 at the 2010 census. The Evergreen Packaging Olmsted Falls Carton Converting Facility is located in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, just outside Cleveland Ohio and its amenities, including access to Lake Erie. Opened in 1956 and employing 170 team members, the facility prints and die cuts refrigerated gable top cartons for a variety of national and regional brands, primarily supplying important dairy nutrition to schoolchildren throughout the US.

Position Description: This position will be responsible for monitoring and executing the sites overall capital project plan and implementing long term project based solutions to improve performance in safety, quality, supply chain, and productivity.


Job Duties:

  • The Project Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for executing facilities, mechanical, production, quality, supply chain and related projects throughout the site with goals to improve safety, quality, supply chain, and productivity as well as control and reduce cost.
  • The position is responsible for all stages of the project management / capital project process, including design and specification of equipment, project cost estimation and justification, construction management, and equipment startup.
  • This position will act as the technical subject matter expert for the plant
  • This position also supports daily operations with process troubleshooting, process safety management and implementation of improved systems and standards
  • Ensures safe operations by observing all required Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) procedures during the project process
  • Ensures capital projects are completed within the defined parameters for safety, quality, schedule, and budget
  • Participates with the operations, engineering, and maintenance team to identify, prioritize, and execute plant improvement opportunities
  • Responsible for the oversight and execution of all capital and long term improvement projects in the plant.
  • Prepares and submits capital project documentation including scope documents, cost estimates, project schedules, and related documents
  • Determines equipment specifications, sizing, layout and utility requirements (with input from other internal or external resources as needed)
  • Creates, modifies and reviews engineering drawings for P&ID’s, mechanical systems, electrical systems, civil/structural designs, etc. (with input from other internal or external resources as needed)
  • Coordinates project reviews and design approvals with relevant stakeholders and gatekeepers
  • Coordinates project reviews and design approvals with relevant stakeholders and gatekeepers
  • Submits requests for quotation for equipment purchases and construction services, based on project designs and requirements
  • Creates purchase requisitions for process equipment, construction services, etc
  • Coordinates and supervises civil/structural, mechanical, electrical, and related contractors during project construction
  • Reviews construction progress and equipment installations to ensure compliance with design specifications
  • Develops equipment startup and checkout plans for various equipment types
  • Supports continuous improvement and PEPS (Pactiv Evergreen Production System) optimization efforts in the plant working directly with the Continuous Improvement Engineer to drive improvements.
  • Supports other plant and departmental initiatives as directed by management


    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Chemical Engineering At least 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment Must have spent time on projects with crafts people and contractors Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to understand and troubleshoot mechanical, basic electrical, &/or chemical systems Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred Experience with SAP software (project management, purchasing, maintenance execution, or related) preferred
Work Conditions:
    Indoor industrial environment that may experience high temperatures and humidity during the summer months. Hearing Protection required when out on production floor due to industrial machinery sound level
