This position will serve as the Editor for the IU School of Nursing will operate alongside a multidisciplinary team lead by the IUSON faculty. The Editor will provide editorial assistance for: manuscripts, abstracts, internal and external reports, and scientific poster and podium presentations. The Editor will participate in training workshops and/or writing groups. The responsibility of the Editor will be to ensure that final deliverables are free of grammar, syntax, and spelling errors, are easy to read and conform to industry standard reporting styles. Ability to multitask and prioritize workload with quick turnaround will be key to success. Estimated working hours are 20 hours per week.
REQUIRED: Master’s degree and two years of experience in medical/life science writing and editing of manuscripts, abstracts, and reports.
Experience working with or in an academic/institutional environment. Proficiency using word processing, EndNote and other office applications. Knowledge of basic navigation in web/internet based applications. Strong proofreading skills and knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Knowledge of the APA and/or AMA style. Strong organization, time-management, prioritization, multi-tasking, independent-decision making, problem-solving, interpersonal skills to interact with faculty, students and staff. Exhibit objectivity and openness to others’ views. Proofread quickly and accurately under pressure. Works well in a fast-paced, deadline-specific environment.
