**Business Unit Overview**

The Investment Accounting Group (IAG) provides accounting and regulatory data services to clients who have outsourced their accounting function to BlackRock. Our Accounting Services include the preparation and oversight of monthly accounting packages, statutory reporting for insurance companies and supporting client changes. IAG has been rapidly growing our service platform beyond our traditional base of insurance clients and developing our accounting operating platform to extend asset class coverage. We are investing in new Aladdin technology to develop an integrated accounting and risk platform with the goal of being an industry-leading investment accounting provider.

**Your Role**

To further fuel our growth and extend our depth we are seeking a high-energy, self-motivated accountant with strong technical skills and in-depth knowledge of financial instruments (e.g., securities, derivatives, mortgage loans, alternative investments, etc.) across multiple accounting basis such as US GAAP, IFRS and US Statutory insurance reporting.

The role provides an exciting opportunity to be a key component of the Accounting Services team that is passionate about developing investment process solutions for all investments using the capabilities of other parts of the BlackRock organization.

**Key Responsibilities**

+ Acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of BlackRock's capabilities, and product structures

+ Stay abreast of and communicate to internal constituents and our clients the implications of the evolving regulatory landscape and new accounting pronouncements

+ Prepare quarterly newsletters and flash updates for clients summarizing significant authoritative guidance and rule making

+ Collaborate with our system development teams on ongoing projects providing updates and periodic reviews and advice

+ Improve and support the library of technical accounting whitepapers

+ Facilitate the impact assessment and implementation of newly issued authoritative rule making

+ Prepare and present periodic updates and training on new and noteworthy accounting topics

+ Support and cultivate business growth, implementation of new clients, and client retention working in partnership with other BlackRock teams

+ Provide unparalleled expertise for financial instruments as it relates to setup, process in compliance with current and proposed accounting and statutory guidelines

+ Represent IAG on internal cross-functional projects and working groups in support of delivering key business and client objectives

+ Represent Investment Accounting on external industry groups and conferences

+ Contribute to the continual development of the investment reporting production and control processes to optimise efficiency, mitigate risk and incorporate business and product changes, ensuring procedures are maintained in line with all current practices

+ Lead or contribute to special projects

**Knowledge / Experience**

+ Strong proficiency in current accounting standards and insurance regulatory requirements

+ Firm knowledge of the business models of insurance companies including the regulatory and accounting constraints under which they operate

+ Expert-level grasp of accounting, reporting and disclosure of financial instruments

+ Familiarity with various trading strategies including hedge accounting (general and qualified), Income Generation, RSAT, etc.

+ Securities and loan accounting expertise including impairments and modifications

+ Alternative instrument accounting (e.g., LPs, LLCs, Hedge Funds, JVs, etc.) experience

+ A pro-active interest in keeping up to date with industry and client product changes

+ Develop strong relationships with internal and external partners, communicate effectively and interact with all levels.

+ Multitask and balance multiple requests without losing sight of overall business objectives

+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams

**Required**

+ BS Degree in Accounting

+ Certified Public Accountant or equivalent

+ Four to six years of related work experience
