ABOUT THE JOB:

The Area Sales Manager achieves profitable new business and works to grow sales in existing assigned accounts. They also fulfill a number of management functions.

Respond to customer needs and build strong customer relationships.
Forecast budgeted sales; maintain and grow the independent business in their assigned category.
Ensure that customers meet specified criteria such as credit qualifications; monitor accounts receivable.
Evaluate and understand competitor strengths and weaknesses, financials, technology, new initiatives, limitations, etc. within their defined territory.
Present new McLane programs to customers.
This position has additional duties; special projects may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree with 2 years of management experience OR 5 years experience in grocery, sales, or retail management or a similar job field. (Internal candidates should have at least 2 years of McLane-specific experience.)
Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word PowerPoint).
Willing to travel as requested.
Staff management experience with a background in hiring, training, and motivating employees and resolving employee relations issues.
Valid driver's license and good driving record.
