Maintenance Reliability Engineer (Mechanical Structural Emphasis)

MAINTENANCE RELIABILITY ENGINEER

Location: Reading, PA

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE MAINTENANCE RELIABILITY ENGINEER

  • Manage the Crane Runway Inspection Program
    • Schedule all the runways in the plant to be inspected
    • Create bid package and review bids from contractors to perform the actual work
    • Review inspection reports from contractors and determine course of action required
    • Maintain the Crane runway backlog of inspections and repairs within SAP
  • Manage new Overhead Crane/jib purchases and/or Structural Upgrades
    • Develop spec documents along with the crane repair team for new cranes or existing crane upgrades
    • Create bid packages and review bids from contractors
    • Review and sign off on drawings, parts, exceptions, etc.
    • Develop upgrade requirements and components
    • Perform structural analysis on column steel and design structural reinforcement if needed
    • Perform structural analysis on existing flooring and design new foundations if needed
    • Schedule and Project manage the crane install or upgrade as Carpenters rep.
  • Provide Engineering Support to the crane maintenance group
    • Structurally evaluate crane and runway components
    • Design structural supports, mechanical updates, etc.
    • Review crane and runway surveys and develop a course of action
    • Sign off on mobile crane lift plans
  • Manage new floor scale purchases and existing scale upgrades
    • Develop spec documents for new floor scales or upgrades
    • Create bid packages and review bids from contractors
    • Perform structural analysis on existing flooring and design new foundations if needed
    • Perform structural analysis on existing scale components and design reinforcements if needed
    • Schedule and Project manage new scale installs or upgrades as Carpenters rep.
  • Provide Support to the Facilities Engineering team (civil engineers) on crane, crane runway, and scale related projects

REQUIRED FOR THE MAINTENANCE RELIABILITY ENGINEER

  • Bachelor’s or associated technology degree in Engineering, Civil or Mechanical preferred - OR - 8 plus years experience in a Crane/Crane Runway structural role.
  • Proficient knowledge of fabrication and welding practices.
  • Proficient knowledge of engineering principles, standards, methods, and practices.
  • Willingness to operate crane, high reach, scissors lift, and forklift
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements for climbing, standing and a strong appreciation of heights. 
  • Applicants must meet the ANSI Fall Protection requirements.  excel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel

  PREFERRED FOR THE MAINTENANCE RELIABILITY ENGINEER

  • 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years’ experience with overhead crane and crane runway systems
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and ladder logic.
  • Thorough knowledge of crane terminology and applicable standards.
  • Willing to explore, learn and apply new technology to the applicable field.
  • Willing to operate crane, high reach, scissors lift, and forklift
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Solidworks (or similar)
  • Proficient in Risa Structural Design Software
