THE PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAM

Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Public Health Program supports several initiatives around the world that aim to reduce the burden of death and disability from noncommunicable diseases and injuries. Our road safety and drowning prevention programs support : advocacy for stronger laws, data collection to better understand the circumstances of drowning and road traffic crashes, in addition to partnering with governments to implement evidence-based interventions that will save lives in low- and middle-income countries.

THE POSITION

Our Public Health teamseeksaProgramManager to join the team to support our growing injury prevention programs – road safety and drowning prevention. The person in this role willsupport both programmatic and administrative activities of the injury prevention portfolio.All members of the Public Healthteam support multiple issue areas andcandidates who demonstrate a willingnessto adapt and learn about new topicswill beprioritizedfor consideration.

The role is based in New York City.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a coordinating liaison to road safety and drowning prevention local and international partners to ensure consistent reporting and communications
  • Conduct critical reviews of periodic partner reports, including the collation, tracking, and analysis of metrics and milestones
  • Follow-up with partners on any unexpected report items or deviations from expected deliverables
  • Synthesize information for internal reporting
  • Assist in coordinating meetings and calls with partners and other external stakeholders
  • Liaise with events team to plan and host annual meetings (125+ people) and special events both in the US and in low- and middle-income countries
  • Coordinate with funded partners to develop narrative and financial materials required for grant agreements
  • Provide strategic and administrative support to funded partnersas needed
  • Independently lead select country and city strategies in our road safety and drowning prevention programs
  • Ensure meeting agendas developed and disseminated; and participate in all strategy calls for both road safety and drowning prevention
  • Proactively gather and develop program outcomes/information to highlight internally
  • Willingness to travel internationally

KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in public health, public policy, or related field
  • Minimum 8 years of experience working in public health, global preferred
  • Experience in the injury prevention space is preferred
  • Commitment, coupled with hands-on experience, working in support of our Public Health team's mission and values
  • Experience working collaboratively and proactively, within partnerships, and across diverse geographic settings
  • Outstanding writing, editing, research and oral communication skills
  • Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to independently coordinate and lead multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on quality, follow-through, and meeting tight deadlines
  • Creative problem-solving skills, including an ability to grasp key issues and make recommendations for improvements
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Self-motivation, an ability to lead programmatic strategy conversations and think beyond assigned tasks
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, or Mandarin desired but not required
