DNA Examiner with Security Clearance

POSITION OVERVIEW The Innovative Technology Solutions Directorate of Xator is seeking experienced DNA Examiners to support a DoD client. These positions are for experienced examiners with substantial field/operational experience. Compensation based on experience level. Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to work in the DoD premier Forensic Center based in Fort Gillem, GA. May be required to travel OCONUS (as needed). Potential locations are determined by the client, but include Bahrain, Kuwait, Djibouti and/or Iraq . Benefits in include hotel and per diem during the 6+ month assessment period in the Atlanta area for candidates located outside the region. Eligible for 21-day R&R for every year of deployment. Active SECRET clearance strongly preferred, but for the right candidate the contract could pursue a security clearance investigation/reinvestigation. Per current US Government / Client contract and deployment requirements, all employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, without exception, upon hiring. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) * Collect potential DNA samples from evidence using approved procedures designed to minimize the possibility of sample contamination. * Conduct examinations of evidence related to DNA analysis. * Generate STR DNA profiles from evidence and reference samples. * Analyze and interpret data from analysis which typically consists of complex mixtures and low level samples. * Examine evidence in consultation with firearms and latent print analysts (as needed) to ensure proposed collection approach will not negatively impact collection of other forensic data from the evidence. * Annotate the case file documentation, detailing the processing techniques and the examination results. * Perform technical and administrative reviews of other analysts' casework. * Ensure proper chain of custody is maintained at all times * Perform instrument maintenance. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Education * Degree from an accredited college or university in physical or life sciences. * Professional certification such as American Board of Criminalistics (ABC) is desired. Experience * One (1) year required, four (4) or more years of experience preferred working in a forensic laboratory performing DNA analysis on criminal evidence and/or intelligence exploitation. * Experience in the following: * Performing DNA analysis on evidence including blood and bloodstains, body fluids, and stains of body fluids, hair, and other items. * Performing of visual and microscopic examination of hairs. * Generating of STR DNA profiles comparison of evidence from victims, scenes, or instruments of incidents to evidence from suspects. * Conducting mixture interpretations using probabilistic genotyping software. * Comparing evidence from victims, scenes, or instruments of incidents to evidence from suspects. * One (1) year of experience as the lead of a team of DNA analysts preferred. * Experience working with an OIF/OEF Laboratory, TEDAC facility, or other NGIC, DoD or ATF Lab; interagency or state/local law enforcement forensics labs preferred. Specialized Knowledge/Skills Requirements * U.S. Citizenship * Position is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance * Must be able to successfully pass a skills assessment. * Must be able to successfully pass all medical requirements for deployment a nd maintain a deployable status to OCONUS theater sites. * Valid U.S. passport PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS * Ability to deploy to globally to locations with austere conditions. In-theater deployment is governed by U.S. government regulations, which include exclusions for personnel with physical, health, or other conditions that would preclude safe assignment to the region. All employees must be able to meet the requirements for travel or deployment to the AOR, if required. * Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers * Per current US Government / Client contract and deployment requirements, all employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, without exception, upon hiring. #LI-JR1 IND123
