The Utilization Management Coordinator coordinates and monitors appropriate utilization of services throughout the course of treatment for patients admitted to the inpatient and outpatient programs and coordinate authorization with third-party payers.   The Utilization Management Coordinator reviews cases for appropriateness of admission, continued stay, and discharge planning. The UM Coordinator assists in the promotion and maintenance of high quality patient care through the analysis, review and evaluation of clinical practices within the hospital. The Utilization Management Coordinator maintains communication system based on documentation and verbal exchange regarding treatment and communicates with internal and external entities to facilitate a continuum of services and to optimize reimbursement for Rolling Hills Hospital.

Job Requirements

Education/Training: Must possess a current RN/LPN license or Master's Degree in Behavioral Health Field (e.g. Counseling, Social Work, Psychology)

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current CPR Certification (training provided)
  • Current Handle With Care (HWC) Certification (training provided)

Experience: Experience in psychiatric setting as a counselor or nurse preferred; reading, writing, and mathematical skills at the master's degree level; skills in application of DSM methodology, excellent telephone etiquette and tact; audible speech, with good enunciation; ability to interact effectively with person of widely diverse roles, backgrounds, cultures, and socio-economic classes; effective oral and written communication skills; skills in analyzing and evaluation information; ability to concentrate on tasks and meet deadlines; basic data entry skills preferred; organizational, time management, problem solving, crisis management skills necessary, flexibility, creativity, and the ability to manage stress are necessary.
