The IT QA Engineer is responsible for executing test cases and review of projects created and modified by the technology group. In this role, you will work collaboratively with internal IT and business users to ensure that new features work as intended. Analyzing system requirements and creating test cases and assisting with risk assessments is a key priority. Projects will involve interacting with clients, IT, and business operations personnel, as well as offshore teams. Attention to detail and thoroughness is a key prerequisite.

A typical day in the life of an IT QA Engineer will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Independently conducting advanced quality assurance testing and analysis on custom applications and reporting technologies.
  • Ensuring that applications and systems function properly and according to business standards, end-user specifications, and requirements.
  • Managing multiple testing projects simultaneously and quickly adapts to testing new applications and systems, including those of a complex or enterprise nature.
  • Developing and executing comprehensive test plans and test cases for new releases, feature enhancements, and regression testing of custom applications and reporting systems.
  • Collaborating with IT team members to identify, document, and resolve defects, and to retest applications.
  • Utilizing automation tools and scripting languages to enhance test coverage and efficiency.
  • Providing guidance and support to Operations personnel to understand the application functionalities and the corresponding test cases.
  • Creating, tracking, and analyzing QA metrics to measure testing effectiveness and to drive continuous improvement.
  • Staying updated with the latest QA methodologies, tools, and industry best practices to continually enhance the QA process.

Requirements:

  • 4-yr college degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or another related field strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ software testing experience, including test plan creation, defect tracking strongly preferred.
  • Experience using Selenium or another automated testing/scripting platform.
  • Ability to build and execute basic SQL queries a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge in the use of Jira or other Agile tools.
  • Solid analytical and troubleshooting skills and a thorough approach to problem solving.
  • Able to read, write and interpret technical documents.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • This is an office-based position, the ability to sit for extended periods of time is necessary.
  • Although very minimal, flexibility to travel as needed is preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time, use hands to type, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to type 35 WPM with 97% accuracy.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
