The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is one of the 12 regional Reserve Banks that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., make up the Federal Reserve System. Performs technical accounting related research and analysis to provide management with definitive financial data and to aid in decision making. Assists in the design and implementation of accounting systems and methods. May have full responsibility for smaller projects or segments of larger projects. Maintains ability to conduct less complex analytical assignments requiring thorough knowledge of Federal Reserve Bank accounting practices, procedures and GAPP. Performs special projects in assigned areas of department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in ensuring financial recordkeeping and reporting are in compliance with basic accounting concepts and principles and GAAP by reviewing records and reports; recommends changes to overall accounting systems, procedures, records and reports to provide management with effective information systems for decision making; makes recommendations via formal presentations and written communications.
Assists in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting associated with the Bank's capital assets. Accountable for recording the cost of newly-acquired capital assets, tracking existing capital assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of capital assets.
Assists in the review of contracts and invoices to recommend appropriate accounting treatment and assess compliance with System policies.
Assists in evaluating adequacy and effectiveness of accounting systems and internal controls. Participates in internal control programs and control training sessions.
Conducts and maintains general ledger account settlements.
Assists in the investigation of various inquiries, proposals, plans, and recommendations from management, BOG, and System committees.
Maintains department procedures manuals.
Actively involved in the accomplishment of departmental and Bank-wide initiatives.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and 2 - 3 years' prior relevant work experience; or equivalent education and work experience.
CPA in progress highly desired.
Knowledge and Skills:
Good PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
Ability to give formal presentations to Bank management.
Effective written and oral communications.
