Compensation: $90,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year

Our client is looking for a Senior Analyst of Technical Accounting or External Reporting to join their team. The position is the primary interface between on-site Project Management teams and the Corporate Accounting function, and coordinates and directs facility and corporate staff involved in accounting for construction activities for the North American fleet of energy-from waste facilities. The ideal successful candidate will have 15 years or more or relevant experience, ideally a balanced mix between public accounting, operational, construction and major capital project accounting in a public company environment. CPA or equivalent is preferred but relevant experience is essential. Key Responsibilities Include • Research the impact of new or proposed accounting standards, interpretations or regulations from the FASB, AICPA, PCAOB, EITF, and SEC. • Assist with the preparation of periodic public financial filings for the SEC including forms 8-K, 10-Q, 10-K and Form DEF 14A (Proxy Statement). • Perform XBRL tagging for 10-Q and 10-K filings. • Research business development technical accounting matters (both under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financial Reporting Standards) that could impact estimated valuation of proposed transactions. • Assist with review of new contracts and assess the accounting implications based on existing accounting standards, interpretations or regulations. • Draft timely, high quality white papers on key technical matters for submission to the independent auditor. • Prepare the quarterly and annual accounting analyses over complex areas, such as valuations, stock compensation, and impairment considerations, including goodwill and indefinite-lived intangible assets. • Prepare required documentation for all aspects of Covanta's hedging/derivatives program from an accounting perspective. Ensure necessary processes and appropriate documentation are in place so all hedging/derivatives activities are appropriately accounted for in the financial statements. • Work with Regional Accounting Directors (RADs) on inquiries related to the application of accounting policies and other technical accounting matters, such as revenue recognition, leases, asset retirement obligations, insurance recoveries, and asset impairments. • Prepare and maintain an up-to-date library of accounting policies and procedures. • Prepare accounting analyses for one-time transactions (i.e., debt financings, acquisitions), as they occur. • Work with the external auditors and internal auditors to ensure timely resolution of outstanding matters. • Work with Accounting Departments to establish accounting processes for new projects as they begin. Job Requirements

Position Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting • CPA preferred • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience; Big 4 public accounting experience preferred • Energy industry experience preferred • Hedging/derivative experience preferred • Must have technical accounting (GAAP IFRS), research and reporting skills • Experience with SEC filings • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and internal control concepts • Skills required: analytical, communication, and organizational skills • Knowledge of large computerized accounting and reporting systems (i.e., Peoplesoft, Hyperion) and proficiency in MS office
