Mechanical Engineering | Assistant Professor Tenure Track 2025-2026 | I02288

Slippery Rock University invites applications for one full-time tenure-track assistant professor position in engineering for Fall 2025. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a related discipline and will teach undergraduate courses ranging from fundamental engineering to upper division courses and capstone projects, including instruction in CAD, MATLAB, and Python software packages for engineers. Candidates are expected to apply evidence-based pedagogical practices and project-based learning in their classroom instruction. The successful candidate will also establish a productive research program involving undergraduates, actively participate in student advising, prepare students for successful careers through industry partnerships and experiential learning opportunities, and engage in department/university service, including maintaining ABET accreditation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Commitment to the education of diverse populations
  • Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching demonstration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in kinematics, system dynamics, or industrial design
  • Familiarity with evidence-based teaching practices
