A health services network in Westchester County is currently seeking a new, licensed professional to join their staff as their new Laboratory Supervisor. In this role, the Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating and directing all activities of the Chemistry and Immunology laboratories in order to achieve maximum quality of testing and compliance with all requirements by regulatory agencies.



Responsibilities:



The Laboratory Supervisor will:

  • Assure the delivery of quality department /clinical services in accordance with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards

  • Assure employee compliance with hospital and Human Resources policies and procedures

  • Assure that employee competency and education requirements are satisfied as per hospital policy

  • Work collaboratively with all levels of the hospital interdisciplinary team

  • Train and assist the Technologists with specialized tests; interpret results for Physicians and advise on follow-up tests, as needed

  • Oversee the Quality Control Program and prepare monthly Quality Control reports for section meetings

  • Prepare section payroll and time sheets

  • Document test implementation and training for staff

  • Troubleshoot instrument malfunction when needed

  • Monitor turn-around-time for applicable Chemistry, Special Chemistry and Reference Tests

  • Perform the duties of Sectional Technologist and Assistant Supervisor, as needed

  • Interview, hire, evaluate, counsel, and terminate employees as per hospital policy

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned


Qualifications:


  • 6+ years of relevant experience in a Hospital setting

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Technology and/or a related field

  • NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license

  • Solid assessment and documentation skills

  • Great interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communicaiton skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Highly organized



Desired Skills:




  • ASCP or NCA Certification

  • Previous experience in a Lead Tech and/or Supervisory role
