Concrete Carpenter Finisher

Position Description: This hourly position is responsible for carpentry and finishing related to concrete work for Turner Construction Company’s Self Perform Operations (SPO) Division.

This position is eligible for medical benefits, paid holidays, and yearly evaluations with considerations for merit increases based on performance as well as applicable trainings to fulfill the obligations of this position.

Reports to: Concrete Foreman, SPO Trades Manager, SPO Superintendent, or SPO General Superintendent

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

o    Establish grades/elevations using a builders level for concrete work.

o    Possess strong carpentry skills for constructing and removing formwork for structural and paving concrete. Formwork includes job-built forms and/or formwork systems.

o    Be proficient in the use of carpentry tools such as such as circular saws, squares, tape measure, hammer, etc.

o    Knowledge of arithmetic, basic geometry, and their applications to carpentry.

o    Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.

o    Construct Forms and chutes for placing concrete.

o    Possess strong abilities in concrete placing & finishing techniques for walls, column, slabs, and paving.

o    Be proficient in the use of finishing tools, such as vibrators, hand trowels, trowel machine, bull floats, hand floats, straightedges, edger, etc.

o    Setting and tying rebar.

o    Install metal embeds, bolts, and accessories to be cast into concrete.

o    Construct provisions for keyways and water proofing applications.

o    Mix bagged concrete for small placements per manufacturer instructions.

o    Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools to achieve the desired finish.

o    Understand blueprints, sketches or building plans to determine dimensions and materials required for form, or framing, construction

o    Be the face of Turner to the client while conducting your work.

o    Maintains positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.

o    Possess the ability to prioritize work and maintain a positive attitude and composure in stressful situations.

o    Work safely, productively and exhibit professionalism with a great attitude.

o    Display a high level of integrity, teamwork, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.

o    Willingness and ability to perform other carpentry and labor related duties for the company as they arise.

Safety Duties & Responsibilities:

o    Exemplifies safe behaviors while working in the warehouse and jobsites

o    Obtain and Maintain Training/Licensing for equipment.

o    Knowledgeable of Commercial Safety Procedures.

o    Conduct pre-task plans to identify safety hazards and communicate the plan with the crew prior to starting work.

o    Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and or property damage.

o  Ensure 100% of compliance of company environmental health and safety policies.


    Candidates should have at least three (3) years of verifiable concrete experience.
    The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    Possess strong verbal & written communication.
    Ability to accommodate night and weekend work as needed
