Job Description

Overview

 The Dir, Psychology provides direct clinical care to patients in the Outpatient Behavioral Health & Wellness Center, Inpatient medical psychiatric unit and consults in Pediatric and Adult ETD and medical floors. The Dir, Psychology will be responsible for the credentialing, coordination and supervision of psychologists in the Section of Psychology. The Dir, Psychology will provide professional direction and guidance to all the credentialed psychologists throughout the medical center.

Responsibilities

 1. Directly design and carry out comprehensive psychological assessments. 2. Meet required timelines to complete reports and provide feedback in a timely way. 3. Provide direct supervision for all clinical psychologists and Masters-level clinicians providing assessment services within the Department of Psychiatry. 4. Assist with hiring, orientation and training of all clinical psychologists and Masters-level clinicians in The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. 5. Participate in the interviewing process of all Psychologist candidates requesting privileges throughout the medical center. 6. Review evaluations and assessments to ensure all staff member's work meets standards for practice. 7. Assist Chair with assessment of personnel disciplinary issues. 8. Work with Chair to conduct annual performance appraisals on all assigned personnel. 9. Responsible for assuring all requirements of psychological programs are adhered to and met. 10. Establishes and/or maintains a service structure which includes organization and functional charts. 11. Consults with and serves as a resource for other professional staff concerning the need for the development of mental health services. 12. Provides a full range of psychological services within staff clinical privileges. 13. Directs and ensures that the credentialed psychology staff throughout the medical center maintains comprehensive documentation which details the adequacy, the nature, and the scope of services rendered and the validation of responsibility and accountability. 14. Responsible for completing OPPE/FPPE for all credentialed Psychologist throughout the Medical Center. 15. Direct and coordinate activities of assessment personnel regarding client services/caseloads/policies and procedures. 16. Assist with collaboration and integration of other clinical services and departments throughout the medical center. 17. Oversee the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs using data-driven quality assurance processes. 18. Makes all decisions with very wide latitude and independent judgment. 19. Responsible for planning programs, resolving conflicts as they arise, coordinating the work with others as necessary and interpreting policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives. 20. Completes all psychology student training evaluation forms in a timely manner (within one week). 21. Participates in the education, case conferences and lectures psychology students as they rotate through the service. 22. Attends all business and clinical meetings required. Time Allocation for Assigned Responsibilities: 1. Clinical services time 80%. 2. Administrative services time 20%.

Qualifications

 Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Ph.D. 2. Minimum of ten years of experience. 3. Eligible for a faculty appointment at Seton Hall-Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and St. George's University School of Medicine. 4. Ability to conduct and facilitate health services research at the interface of psychiatry and medicine. 5. Characteristic ability to deal collaboratively with professional peers, departmental members and other support areas within Hackensack University Medical Center. 6. Astute clinician who thrives in team based setting. 7. An excellent communicator. 8. Passionate about education.
