Director of Cell Development

Position Overview:
Solid Power is seeking a Director of Cell Development to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries.? Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. This position will work closely with cell engineering team, testing team & external labs to help in the execution of battery cell test plans to qualify the Solid Power's solid state battery technology.
Job Duties:
* Lead all cell design & development activities.
* Manage product requirements (cost, performance, safety) and develop product development roadmaps.
* Structure and manage materials screening/down-selection efforts (working cross-functionally with fundamental R&D, quality and purchasing teams).
* Manage materials chemistry and mechanical design teams.
* Manage development and application of cell design models across cell product portfolio.
* Establish and promote structural, statistically rich approach to product development.
* Drive cross-functional conformance to APQP product development standards.
* Support customer communication (internal and external) though content development and presentation.
* Identify critical hires and work closely with HR to accelerate team growth.
* Lead and mentor Cell Development group teams members (individual contributors and managers).
Qualifications/Requirements:
* Minimum of master's degree in Electrochemistry, Chemical or Material Science engineering, PhD preferred.
* 6+ years' industrial experience developing Li-batteries for consumer applications.
* Experience with high-volume cell manufacturing, preferably for automotive applications.
* Significant experience with APQP process and documentation requirements.
* 3+ years' experience leading product development teams.
* In-depth knowledge of Li-ion battery design, operation, testing/characterization, and failure analysis.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant material's chemistries and associated screening/characterization techniques.
Salary Range: $137,000 - $234,000/year
