The company proudly serves thousands of individuals a month in New York’s Westbury, Hempstead, Salisbury, and throughout Queens.
The demand for home care services is rapidly increasing as the population ages and more families seek compassionate, professional care for their loved ones. To support this growing demand, Homewatch CareGivers of Nassau County seeks a seasoned Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to work alongside its CEO and COO to further develop its human resources function.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Homewatch CareGivers seeks an experienced and strategic Chief Human Resources Officer to set the vision and strategy for attracting, developing, and retaining its growing team. The CHRO is a leadership role that will report directly to the CEO with a dotted line to the company’s COO. The CHRO is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to build and improve systems, policies, and practices related to talent recruitment, human resources, employee relations and engagement, performance management, and compensation to support our clients as the company scales. This includes developing and leading the company’s vision to attract the strongest talent and deploy them to cultivate compassion and safety in the communities it serves. The CHRO will lead the implementation of best-in-class systems in human resources and talent management.
Strategic Leadership
- Develop a strategic human capital vision and plan for full talent life cycle — from recruiting to selecting, onboarding, developing and retaining employees.
- Oversee the building and improving of systems, policies, and practices related to recruitment, leadership development, retention, talent operations, employee relations, etc. over a multi-year horizon.
- Serve as an active member of Homewatch’s leadership team, playing a role in decisions about the long-term direction of the company, setting overarching goals and priorities, and monitoring company performance relating to talent management.
- Function as a strategic advisor, functional expert, and thought partner to the CEO, governance boards, and broader team regarding key human resources strategies and issues.
Talent Management
- Provide leadership, direction and oversight for the development, implementation and evaluation of the next generation development programs designed to advance the performance capabilities for Homewatch.
- Lead talent development strategies and initiatives that will ensure the development of key professionals to ensure enhanced performance, increased retention and promotion.
- Evaluate, coach and develop the team by providing feedback and developing a strong team culture of collaboration and growth.
- Oversee the development of the team through the implementation of a robust performance management system that supports ongoing growth and development of staff.
Compensation and Benefits

Employee Relations
- Thoughtfully address employee concerns and resolve conflicts through fair, transparent, and timely interventions, fostering a culture of trust and collaboration.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment; oversee regular assessment and reporting on employee satisfaction with a focus on continuous improvement to promote a high level of morale, motivation, and retention.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with all employment laws and regulations, implementing robust policies and procedures to mitigate risks and uphold the highest standards of workplace ethics.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state employment requirements.
Organizational Development & Human Resource Operations
- Provide strategic and operational leadership and oversight to the Human Resources department, encompassing all functions such as benefits administration, and the maintenance of Human Resources information systems, ensuring seamless and efficient operations.
- Ensure comprehensive compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations, implementing and monitoring policies and procedures to safeguard the organization against legal risks and uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct.
- Assess overall company health; partner with CEO and team members to shape and cultivate strong workplace culture.
- Utilize data to set clear goals for company health and align team members to deliver on the goals.
- Develop and/or update all talent and human resources policies and procedures to ensure compliance as well as alignment with Homewatch values and culture.
Key Selection Criteria & Professional Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree and Masters or Professional Degree in business administration, human resources, organizational psychology, talent development, labor relations or related field.
- Experience in human resources in the healthcare industry.
- Minimum of 8 years prior experience leading a human resources team, with a minimum of 5 years of experience providing direct human resources service to senior leadership stakeholders.
- SHRM certification strongly preferred.
- Exceptional strategic thinker with the ability to collaboratively develop detailed vision and direction.
- Experience and success as strategic partner, culture builder, counselor to the CEO/key leaders, internal leaders and company ambassador.
- Demonstrated success in change management and engagement initiatives.
- Significant experience with talent development and talent planning/management/succession.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and expertise in Human Resources and talent best practices and systems as well as federal and state employment and compliance laws and regulations.
- Experience with implementation of executive and management base pay and incentive programs.
- Demonstrated success in team leadership and managing teams to successful outcomes.
- Experience in the project management of complex, large scale initiatives or projects.
- Track record of creating and improving systems and processes; and experience leveraging technology to gain insight and increase efficiency.
- Ability to utilize data insights for effective strategic planning and decision-making.
- Capacity to develop strong relationships in order to interface and collaborate at all levels of the company including senior team, governance boards and relevant external parties.
- High emotional intelligence.
- Strong executive presence and communication at high levels, i.e., executive team and board etc.
