Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Systems Administrator SCSM (System Center Service Manager) for our Navy customer in Crane, Indiana. As a Systems Administrator SCSM you will be involved in operating system and application maintenance and configuration, from acquisition to maintenance intervals and upgrades, to end of life planning. You will be responsible for security and configuration compliance and will work with other members of the IT System Administration Team, vendor management, IT Asset Owners and other teams associated with the division. As part of your responsibilities, you will be asked to respond to requests from end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT system assistance, data and information.

Responsibilities include:

  • The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
  • Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational requirements.
  • Provide data and assistance on audits. Document processes and follow documented procedures.
  • Perform installation, updates, and configuration of servers and workstations in accordance with industry best practices and DISA standards.
  • Perform system monitoring using approved tools and processes to validate system health.
  • Assists with the analysis of system resource trends and gathers customer requirements for capacity planning.
  • Collaborates with senior personnel in performing risk assessments to determine impact on customer business processes and systems downtime and proposes changes as needed. Implements system changes across large, complex and diverse server environments by using standardized defined methods and procedures; provides efficient and prompt handling of all changes to improve day-to-day operations.

Other Duties Include:

  • Manage the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems.
  • Set up administrator and service accounts.
  • Maintain system documentation
  • interacts with users and evaluate vendor products.
  • Make recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
  • Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • May program in an administrative language.
  • Develop and implement testing strategies and document results.
  • Provides advice and training to end-users.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects as required

Note: A strong background in Scripting (PowerShell, in particular) and basic knowledge in Satellite Server would be helpful. Since Orchestrator could use XML, that knowledge would be helpful as well. This position will also do intermediate SQL server/SQL admin duties as well.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • In lieu of a relevant degree, the position requires a Security+, SSCP or similar IAT level II certification.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification is preferred, Service Operations (Intermediate) and CPDE (Certified Process Design Engineer) is optional.
  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications and work experience.

  • 2-5 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support.
  • Knowledge of related hardware and software.
  • May require professional certification in one or more specific technologies, depending on job assignment.
  • Active Secret clearance
