Programmer Analyst - ProTechnics - Houston, TX

Position Title: Programmer Analyst - JOB SUMMARY: The Programmer Analyst will be responsible for conducting system analyses; developing specifications; and identifying strategic approach for developing new software applications and for maintaining existing software applications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Programming and development of global business applications and systems to support the operations of ProTechnics will be required, utilizing the following development platforms, as well as other evolving technologies: Microsoft C# .Net 2010/2012 Visual Studio Silverlight / WPF (latest versions) Microsoft Entity Framework and WCF RIA Services SQL programming and Microsoft SQL Server 2008, including stored procedures, use of DDL (Data Definition Language), and SQL server reporting services Microsoft Excel and Access 2010, including their object model and programming using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) Must be highly skilled in working with class object models and framework class libraries. Must be comfortable with using software versioning and revision control systems such as Microsoft Visual Source Safe or Subversion Review, analyze, modify and maintain programming systems including coding, testing, debugging and documenting applications to produce a consistent user interface and functional application. Design, program, maintain and monitor stored procedures. Consults with business content owners to identify, assess, and analyze needs, providing guidance and solutions on architectural concepts and functional capabilities as required to meet the needs of the business. Researches technologies to keep abreast of the latest developments and programming tools, training, hardware, etc. in order to recommend new technologies to be utilized within the Division. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering, Math, or Physics preferred. Minimum 5 years programming experience with multiple languagespreferred; engineering and/or physics applications programming experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrates a proven track record of developing professional, high-quality software that makes a significant, positive impact on end user productivity and the quality of the work product, coupled with high user satisfaction. Demonstrates the ability to work independently with minimum supervision, be self-directed and motivated for success. Demonstrates the ability to take a leadership role in management of software development projects. Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability; makes changes when they make business sense, not just for the sake of change. Is willing to and enjoys working outside of their “comfort zone”. Experience with Microsoft SQL databases and creating complex queries required. Experience with database design required. Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services required. Experience with using source control software required. Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills required. Strong time management, project management and organizational skills required. Demonstrated strong consultation and communication skills required to work with variety of people at multiple levels of the organization on a variety of projects. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with non-technical employees in order to understand needs, as well as to provide end-user support with applications as needed. Experience using project management techniques, processes and project plans required. Demonstrated ability to “self-train”; i.e. utilizes online information and documentation
