Strategic Mobility Senior Consultant

Position is on the staff of a not-for-profit government consulting firm located in McLean, VA. The consultant will work on-site at the Pentagon supporting the Army G-4’s Strategic Mobility Division responsible for policy, programming and plans to support the Army’s strategic mobility requirements. The consultant must possess a knowledge of future force projection, distribution, and transportation issues and programs such as rail, watercraft, and strategic airlift. The consultant will assist in defending force projection out load modernization requirements through the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process. Position requires a DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide transportation and strategic mobility input to develop deployment and redeployment policy, guidance, and doctrine and to coordinate, review, and provide input into strategic documents, other regulatory documents, and DOD regulations and ARs as required.
  • Coordinate with the Joint Staff, Service Staffs, and Army Service Component Command (ASCC) staffs to facilitate resolution of strategic mobility issues, as needed. Represent Army equities in OSD, Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), and USTRANSCOM strategic mobility forums.
  • Represent G-4 strategic mobility equities in All Things Mobilization and Power Projection (ATMP2) governance forums (formerly Army Power Projection Program).
  • Support deployment infrastructure requirements during military construction (MILCON) operations to maintain or improve deployment operations.
  • Monitor and assess strategic mobility impacts and capabilities on current military operations.
  • Develop and defend program objective memorandums (POMs) for strategic mobility requirements and execute management of approved annual resources.
  • Assist in exercising staff oversight of the Army rail, watercraft, and logistics-over-the-shore capabilities.
  • Assist the G-4’s functional proponent role for strategic sealift and airlift.

Qualifications
  • Candidate must have an advanced degree with 9 years of experience, a bachelor’s degree with 11 years of experience, or no degree with 15 years of experience with large, technically complex logistics projects.
  • Possess strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work autonomously and high standards for personal performance. Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and adaptable to flexible work styles, environments, and locations.  
  • Ability to coordinate and build consensus among a wide cross-section of stakeholders. Comfortable briefing General Officers and Senior Executives.
  • Experience with PPBE process, programming, and execution to support senior Army decision-making.
  • Prior Army or DoD transportation experience desired.
  • Prior experience working on the Army Staff, USTRANSCOM, or ACOM-level of support desired.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Occasional travel required.
  • LMI will only consider applicants with current security clearances or applicants who are eligible for security clearances. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
