Job Description

Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 300 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seeking an Electromechanical Control Engineer to join our team in Concord, NH.
 
The Electromechanical Controls Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, specification, documentation, testing and fabrication of electromechanical control systems and machines for thermal spray equipment and related accessories. This individual will also perform demonstrations of equipment in support of sales and assist customers in system start-up, training and continuing product support in the field and in manufacturing. The Electromechanical Controls Engineer will also be responsible for meeting cost, budget and time line goals of projects.
 
Electromechanical Controls Engineer
  • Interpret customer's specifications and requirements for given project assignments
  • Design, program, test, and troubleshoot electrical circuits and control systems
  • Direct company resources to fulfill project requirements
  • Work with sales, marketing and customers to establish project specifications based upon available resources
  • Specify and select components for use in products
  • Work with vendors to select materials and products used in the manufacture of experimental or production systems and components
  • Provide support to manufacturing for production and prototype
  • Assist in the writing of manuals for equipment and related documentation
  • Travel to customer sites to help install / train / troubleshoot problems.  Must have the ability to travel at least 10-15%

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC software, Visual Basic, C#, structured text and ladder logic

  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

  • Knowledge of Serial, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP communication protocols

  • Knowledge of Natl. Electrical Code, NFPA regulations, and EN directives

  • The ability to troubleshoot electromechanical machines

  • The ability to design control systems using PLCs, flow controllers, sensors, robotics, and other electronic components

  • Experience in the use of hand and power tools

  • ASEE/ASME or equivalent two year degree / combination of relevant experience

  • BSEE, MSEE, BSME, MSEE preferred

  • 5 years of machine design experience required

  • Thermal spray, welding, and robotic integration experience preferred
