Capital Asset Accountant
This role sits at corporate headquarters for a billion dollar real estate organization. The team is friendly and the organization provides excellent benefits, flexible scheduling and collaborative atmosphere.
The Capital Asset Accountant will handle the following duties:
Approve capital projects and create activity numbers and projects in Lawson
Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
Work with Project Manager to upload the budget at the beginning of the project to allow for an efficient billing process
Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts
Review and approve supplier invoices related to a project
Work closely with Project Management, Vendors and Subcontractors to research and resolve any discrepancies
Review and calculate payroll costs for work related to a project
Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project
Review account totals related to project assets and expenses
Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management
Report on project profitability to management
Report to management on any opportunities for additional billings
Report to management regarding the remaining funding available for projects
Create or approve all project-related billings to the bond financer
Investigate all project expenses not billed to the bond financer
Respond to requests for more detail from the bond financer
Close out project accounts upon project completion and transfer to fixed assets in Lawson
Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
Complete other tasks as assigned
Capital Asset Accountant
A Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Accounting or related field
At least two years of related experience in an accounting support position.
Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency
Experience with Lawson is preferred
Experience in real estate and/or healthcare is preferred
Considerable initiative, good judgment and planning skills are required. The individual must have the ability to plan and carry out multiple and varied responsibilities, and organize own schedule and duties in order to complete responsibilities. The person must demonstrate flexibility and the ability to take direction from other senior staff in the organization. The ability to maintain confidentiality and good judgment is necessary.
The person must be tactful and possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal, English skills required) to effectively communicate with a variety of people and personalities including central office staff, campus and consulting personnel with varied levels of understanding of finance and accounting principles and functions. The individual must be courteous and relate well to others, project a friendly character, support customer service and team concepts.
It is essential that the individual is dependable, has good interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to deal well with others and able to work collaboratively and effectively. The individual must be able to handle a variety of complex tasks and responsibilities in a professional, prompt manner. The person must have excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
