Details on the position:
- You'll be leading a small, fast-growing team (2 engineers, 2 project coordinators/drafters) with the goal of systematization, codification, and growth. You're not just going to make sure the trains are running on time, you're going to help us build better trains, hire new talent, and grow on a scale. You'll be the key person for supplier relations, engineering process design, intellectual property management, and supply-chain efficiency.
- The team you'll be leading is already filled with top talent, but you'll be tasked with helping them reach their full potential, and hiring more people like them.
What your work week will look like:
- You've already got a nice home office setup, when you're there (whenever you're not visiting suppliers, supporting key customer meetings, or qualifying sub-vendors) you'll meet daily with our all-remote team for a quick 15-minute morning huddle. From there, you'll have a few core duties, such as:
- Ensuring your direct reports are operating at peak efficiency, are fulfilled, working in the proper role, and enjoying their jobs.
- Improving efficiency by coordinating with our Senior Applications Engineer and in-house coding and development teams to build new systems and processes, new drawing and calculation tools, etc.
- Working directly with company ownership to align priorities and plan next steps (ensuring your vision is accomplishing our vision).
- Acting as the final point of ownership on technical approvals, large quotes, orders, and critical expenditures (you will be our fine-tooth comb for things that could come back to bite us).
- Reviewing, interviewing, and hiring candidates to build out our operations team.
- Dealing with random personnel issues on the team you've built (that's right, leading people is not all sunshine and roses!).
- Helping solve critical customer problems by providing answers and solutions.
- Writing technical papers and developing presentations for industry groups.
- Training our team on customer plant-processes and our own products and capabilities.
- Giving presentations for stakeholders, customers, and larger external audiences (you'd better be comfortable with public speaking).
What you bring to the table:
- Knowledge of key plant processes (how does a cement plant, blast furnace, sulfuric acid converter, HRSG, ethylene cracker, steam reformer, cooling tower, etc. work?).
- Engineering degree strongly preferred, but not required.
- 5+ years (or professional equivalent) of proven experience leading and directly managing a team.
- Proven history of root cause failure analysis.
- Track record of systems design and implementation.
Compensation & Extra Info:
- Pay: 100% Salary - No commissions, no bonuses, no strings attached.
- Pay Range: $85,000-$135,000.
- Vacation: Unlimited.
- 401K: Flat 3% Contribution (no contribution required by you – starts year 2).
- Profit Sharing: Eligible after 2 years.
- Health: $9252 annual healthcare stipend (cash).
- Vehicle: Personal w/ mileage reimbursement @ federal rate.
- Travel: 20%.
- Phone: Included.
- Expense Account: Obviously.
- Professional Development Assistance.
- Software: We spend a lot of money on our software & systems to help you work more efficiently, you will have the best of the best, and you'll be expected to use it with expertise.
