Senior Air Quality Specialist

What's the Opportunity?
Support our growing air quality and climate practice as a key member of project teams, by contributing to the development and review of related technical analyses for criteria air pollutants and greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, regulatory compliance and air permitting efforts, and environmental planning (e.g., California Environmental Quality Act [CEQA], Washington State Environmental Policy Act [SEPA], National Environmental Policy Act [NEPA]). This role entails interacting with clients and overseeing supporting technical staff in the development of project deliverables. This role also includes opportunities to support overall project management and project business development.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and evaluate technical approaches for executing air and GHG analyses, including the use of appropriate models (e.g., CalEEMod, MOVES), to complete air quality and GHG inventories, evaluate or recommend emissions reduction or control technologies, and demonstrate compliance with local, state, and federal regulations with an emphasis on mobile source and port related emissions and controls. Critically review and interpret applicable regulations, including tracking emerging issues to advise project teams and clients. Prepare and review technical documents, present findings to clients and agencies, and conduct agency outreach and coordination when needed. Assist with developing scopes, budgets, and schedules for planning and permitting projects.
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Engineering or related science degree with 10+ years of experience, preferably with consulting experience
Estimating air and GHG emissions and conducting engineering evaluations of air pollution and control sources
Experience with off-the-shelf air emission models and tools such as CalEEMod, MOVES, AERMOD
Preparing air quality permit applications and air and climate emissions related environmental impact reports, especially in support of CEQA, SEPA, and/or NEPA
Critically reviewing and interpreting federal, state, and local air quality regulations with an emphasis on California and Washington states
Experience with emission control technology and practices and identification of mitigation to offset air- and GHG-related project impacts
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and multiple concurrent projects/tasks, working both independently and in multidisciplinary teams
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, client service-oriented team environment and proven ability to work across disciplines internally and externally
Strong written and verbal communications skills

Compensation:
Salary Range: $73.65- $83.75/hour (For Seattle, WA)
