Summary This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Electro-Machinist Division DCF. As a Intermediate Electro-Machinist (Electrical/Electronic), you will serve a four-year training program and receive progressive on-the-job training supplemented by related didactic instruction in either the machinist or the electrical/electronic craft, which will qualify the trainee to perform the tasks of a journeyman Electro-Machinist. Responsibilities The following are the duties of this position at the WE-2. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position. EMs install, repair, modify, fabricate, and replace a range of computerized, electronic, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical, industrial printing processes and equipment components as well as other complex and sophisticated related equipment. Perform corrective and preventive maintenance; equipment installation, assembly, and dismantling; production line equipment and manufacturing problem analysis and resolution. Locate, install, assemble, and otherwise prepare all production and production related equipment that comes into the facility, often in conjunction with factory installation technicians. Assist production personnel in the determination of manufacturing problems and their causes. Designing and creating computer programs for production equipment modifications. ***BEP is currently in the process of having a new facility built in Beltsville, MD and expect to move to the new facility within the next 5 years. Physical Requirements: EM's frequently handle objects weighing up to 75 pounds and occasionally carry objects weighing over 45 pounds for considerable distances. EMs are required to push, pull, reach, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, bend and work in cramped positions over and under machinery of all types for sustained periods. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Vision requirements are depth perception, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, specific visual requirement is J-2. Aid permitted for hearing. AND You must show in your experience in online application that you possess the knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifications You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Lodge 2135-International Association of Machination & Aerospace Workers (Electro-Machinist). The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for work days during the shutdown period. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: A one year probationary period may be required. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.
