As the Financial Controller of Optum Bank, you will be accountable for managing the accounting and control activities and financial reporting to the Bank’s Board of Directors, parent company, regulators and to external constituents. You will assist the CFO in developing financial and business strategies and assist with the bank budget and forecasting process, as well as ad hoc analysis. You will provide operational and technical accounting expertise to ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, rules, bank regulation and laws.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and ensure proper, efficient execution of the Bank’s accounting function including accounting for various loan and lease programs
  • Ensure adequate controls are in place to safeguard the Bank’s assets
  • Maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure effective financial controls with an emphasis on FDICIA controls
  • Oversee the compilation and submission of the Bank’s quarterly Call Reports and other required regulatory reporting
  • Coordinate the monthly accounting close process and review key account reconciliations
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to management and the Bank’s parent company based on promulgated time requirements and to all external constituents including banking regulators and the Bank’s Board of Directors
  • Prepare annual financial statements and related footnotes and disclosures for external audit and manage external audits
  • Represent the finance team in various management, project and capital meetings
  • Research and implement technical accounting guidance and reporting requirements for new products
  • Assist the CFO in developing budgets, forecasts, cash flows, and strategic planning
  • Assist the company with compliance issues related to banking regulations (Reg 23A & B compliance)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience in financial services or a related industry
  • Management / Supervisory experience
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Excel
  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location
  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or advanced degree
  • Public accounting experience
  • Experience working with bank regulatory examiners
  • PeopleSoft and/or Hyperion Essbase knowledge
