2022-2023 Utah Refugee VISTA Project Leader
The Utah Refugee Services Office is recruiting a VISTA Leader to help expand and support the growing Utah Refugee VISTA Project. As a leader, you will encourage and develop VISTA volunteer leadership and initiative on projects, educate VISTAs in the role and purpose of the AmeriCorps VISTA program, act as a resource to members in developing programs, create and lead individual and group professional development initiatives, assist individual sites and members to achieve sustainability for projects, and empower VISTAs to learn, grow, and thrive through their service years. You will develop leadership, coaching and mentoring skills. You will gain experience in project management and development. There are opportunities to engage in community event planning, curriculum design, and grant writing and fundraising. Looking for a self-starter willing to learn with a positive attitude, ability to juggle multiple projects and personalities efficiently and effectively, and experience leading teams and individuals to innovative, new ideas. Member Duties : The VISTA leader will assist in coordinating efforts for the Utah Refugee VISTA Project. They will aid in the development of meaningful relationships, training programs, and program sustainability efforts navigating individual program concepts with VISTA volunteers and sponsor organizations. They will aid in position development, recruitment, and member onboarding. The VISTA leader will meet with each VISTA member at least once monthly, lead bi-weekly project meetings, plan monthly team-building activities, serve as a part of a national committee offering monthly professional development/networking workshops for VISTAs as part of a virtual multi-project collaborative effort, and work with VISTA members to identify and accomplish personal and professional goals during their service. The VISTA leader will work alongside the Project Manager to monitor site compliance, monthly reporting, annual progress and program continuation efforts, and quarterly supervisor training seminars.
